I guess if they are so well behaved, it's because they face stiff punishment if they are caught partaking ?
They certainly face punishment if they cause any trouble, and there are usually plenty of MPs around to make sure they don't. Not sure if they're actually forbidden to partake, but they're heavily discouraged -- videos about the horrors of STDs, etc. -- and most don't seem to. Kind of sad really, sailors coming ashore in Pattaya and not even shagging.

Patronizing prostitutes just got more costly
New rule means those convicted face dishonorable discharge, jail
By Karen Jowers
Marine Corps Times staff writer
Service members now may pay dearly for hiring a prostitute.
Under a change in the Manual for Courts-Martial, troops who patronize prostitutes can receive a dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and up to a year in jail.
“Before now, there was no explicit prohibition on patronizing a prostitute,” said Eugene Fidell, president of the National Institute of Military Justice. “It’s clear they’re getting serious about this. I think it’s a sign of changing values in our society, including military society. Once upon a time, this kind of thing was rampant, like heavy drinking and smoking.”
The punishment for hiring a prostitute is now the same as the punishment for being a prostitute.
The change took effect Nov. 13 but received renewed emphasis by the Pentagon after President Bush signed a law Jan. 10 containing various provisions designed to combat [CodeWord908], which is heavily tied to prostitution.
Defense officials had no statistics available on the number of courts-martial for patronizing prostitutes since the change went into effect.
But it applies in all cases, even if a service member visits a legal brothel, regardless of local domestic or foreign law, said Pentagon spokeswoman Air Force Lt. Col. Ellen Krenke.
A bit dated but still enforce. Glad they waited until after I got out.

Stands to reason, doesn't it? ... after all, they are sacrificial slaves.

Sounds more like, make war, not love.
I kinda feel sorry for all those sailors, might as well just stay on the ship.

Great info David 2. Thanks for the input. I will be arriving in 2 days and will give this this spa package a try. Sounds like a good relaxing time with a good ending. What did they want for the tip? Hopefully all is well and I don't have an issue like you did,
Thanks
The reason that it isn't on their website is that it's an outside vendor that they rent space to. It opened a year and a half ago when their tower #2 opened, and they were having a special promotion for guests at NP. I tried one of their deluxe spa packages. I think it was 3 hours for 2000 THB, and it included a milk bubble bath, a body scrub, and an oil massage. A VERY nice experience, and of course the usual upsell options were offered including HE. Of course I paid the special service to the girl in cash.
I had asked before I went there if I could charge it to my room, and of course they said yes, but when I went to check out a week or so later, the NP manager on duty insisted that I pay the spa bill separately, in cash. Well, I explained that they said it could be added to my hotel bill, and that I had already changed all my THB back to USDollars. He was a very unpleasant man, but he had no choice but to add it to my bill because that was the only way he was going to get paid.
BTW, I was a long time customer of the NP hotel, and I had spent over 80 nights there over 4 visits, but after that occasion I will never go back. There are SO many better hotels that actually know the meaning of "Customer Service"
Tailor...Sweaters
Sorry for the off topic, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a tailor in Pattaya that will make sweaters. I looked all over last time I was there but came up empty handed. Anyone know of any?

The very attractive young attendant asked for 1,000 THB, and because it was a 3 hour service I would have tipped 100 for each hour and 500 for the HE anyway, so I gave her the requested tip without bargaining. I was pampered like a king all afternoon, and it was a VERY pleasant experience for less than 90 USD.
I live in Las Vegas, and 90 USD buys you a 20 minute massage from a 50 year old without teeth.
Hope you enjoy......I'll look forward to your report.

Im back in Pattaya this weekend and have a question:
What interactive bars/go gos are there?
Last trip I went to X Zone and I heard that Windmill is similar so will check that out - but are there any others where you can "play" in the bar?

Nice snide remark about courageous men and women.
If it is so well said, I suggest you say it to their faces and see what happens.
But you won't, PUSSY!!!

This leads them to passing out money as if it were water in many countries where it is not necessary. I prefer to look at everything in context of the Big Mac Index and the local purchasing power parity. (In each country you visit check out the price of a Big Mac or a pack of Marlboro (although govt. taxes are added to the cigs) and compare it to back home.)There is absolutely no reason to fork over approximately 30 USD/ hour where the average monthly wage is 24,000 baht or US$800.

Who said they aren't courageous?
The truth is that when they sign up for duty, they essentially become the property of the US military which can put them into harms way; order them to stay away from prostitues; or just about any thing else their masters desire. Can you handle the truth? Soldiers have always been considered as little more than slaves by governments... you know ... like 'cannon fodder.'
If it makes you feel any better, Mr. Jingo Patriot, the USA government considers the rest of us as a 'resource' as well, which IMHO is not much better than slave.
BTW -- I HAVE said it more than once to my military friends. They agreed.
-
Bullsit
I don't believe for a second your "friends" agree they are slaves. Really, you have friends who "signed up" to be "cannon fodder"?
It has nothing to do with Jingoism or Patriotism, I am neither. But I have tremendous respect for those who would put their lives on the line to allow me to live my life in freedom. Calling them slaves is hugely disrespectful.
Fuck the government (USA or otherwise). I'm not talking about them, but it should be very obvious why the military doesn't allow its members to visit prostitutes while deployed in a foreign country.
Stands to reason, doesn't it? ... after all, they are sacrificial slaves.
At law, they say let the punishment fit the crime.
In this case it should be at worst, a missdemeanor, and it is highly unreasonable and damaging to morale, and probably poor given the law of equity. Was Bush or his aides trying to encourage homosexuality?
Given that certain security clearances are revoked for those that have affairs (untrustworthy) the rule seems reasonable for partnered sailors.
But single sailors? Is the justification that they don't want to infect host countries with (du) uranium sperm (many birth defects to soldiers wives who played with DU) so now special forces get to freeze theirs. In case.
But if we apply those rule, do all congressmen on the hill automatically get discharged. And their clearances revoked. Or for hiring illegal nannies. And everyone else on the civil arms.
This enforcement smacks of double standards, probably enforced by butch lesbians and feminists too ugly to get a man.
