Manila

I am coming in mid January to meet a girl from CB. She is fairly straight-laced. Has job, an apartment and an 11 yr old son. She is very protective & insists that she meet me at the airport when I arrive and drop me off at the airport when I leave. She lives in Laguna outside Manila.

I have not been to the Phils in 2 years and this is likely my last trip there. I would like to spend a few days 2-3 in either Malate or Angeles. I just have no idea how to do that under these circumstances.

I have also thought of just going to Bangkok for a few days after I leave Manila, But I find the Phils a much better place for me than Thailand.

Any ideas?

The flight. After she drops you off at the airport, jump in the
Taxi and be on your way.

Or just tell her she can't pick you up at the airport, period. That's what I do...I say after a long flight I need to get to the hotel and shower before seeing anyone, and that I'll text her when I am ready for her to come over. She is not your boss.

This way you can show up early and go to AC, then just drive back to your hotel on your "arrival date" :-).

Or just tell the lady that you will decide when, and perhaps if, you want to see her. It's not a great idea to start up with a woman who wants to manage your life. It's not as if you have no alternatives if the relationship doesn't work out.

Tell her no. Most girls in Phils look forward to a few nights with a nice guy and generally back down. They are really not as confrontational as you might think.

I'm always vague about arrival time, and if pressed I give an arrival time several days after the real schedule. If you get caught just say you were lucky enough to catch an earlier flight. As someone else suggested, use a different SIM during that period. You also need to keep her away from your passport and make sure there are no tags on your luggage. Let's see, now what are we forgetting.

What is the liklihood of running into a katooey in the Manila? I forgot which city was best. Was it Manila or Angeles City. What are the girls prices. I ask the question because I heard it was hard to detect a man from a woman in the Phillipines. What is a good hotel to stay at near the action?

I was surprised that a guy who has already been here once before should make such a request. My first reaction was to think "troll"; how could anyone be so easily pushed around.
She must be extraordinary, especially as you have never met her in person yet.
I hope you haven't made any silly promises to her yet. I make it a rule NEVER to promise anything. I always use "maybe" or "possibly" in everything I suggest we do after i arrive.

I have had many girls "insist" they meet me at the airport when i travel to Cebu, but I never give my arrival details and I always tell them that I prefer to make my own way to my accommodation. None of them have refused to meet me later.

One major potential problem that arises when they meet you at the airport is that they then know where you are staying. If they turn out to be not what you expected it is more difficult to drop them off. Much better to check in and then meet them in a mall or somewhere away from your hotel.

If she turns out to be just what you are looking for, then it is easy.
If she is not, then you are still in a better position to ease yourself away without too much drama.

Hi all. I'm going to have a few days in Manila at the Dusit Thani, which seems to be next to the Glorietta mall. Is this a decent pickup place? If so, how does it compare to Ayala in Cebu? I'd like something to fall back on in case my DIA dates don't pan out.

If she is not a winner then you have to meet with some friends (or do something that will not include her for the rest of the trip.)
