I can't say all stations have them. But it would be a rare one without an elevator.
That is the most boring option. I have only 1 carry on that fits in overhead bins so I can deplane and exit airports quickly. Never had to wait around the carousel to collect checked bags.
I would rather spend the last night in Sukhumvit sniffing crotches in Nana Plaza or bull shitting with street girls, may be bagging a few girls, enjoying life to the last minute, go to sleep then roll out my small luggage in the morning.
AFAIK there are no elevators at BTS stations. Hand carrying it up the high stairs is a pain. I can see how guys with a couple big pieces would have difficulties. For me it's still better than sitting in a Grab car stuck in heavy traffic, missing flights.
I don't think I have ever encountered a bts station that did not have an elevator, an escalator or both that can take you from ground level to the ticket window and from there to the boarding platform. If that second elevator or escalator is not located on one side of the ticket window level past the turnstile then it will be located on the other.
There might be an exception or two somewhere. But I'm doubting an exception would be at any station where travelers, tourists, popular hotels and so on are to be found. Certainly in and around the lower Sukhumvit area and then in and around every station with a transfer option to another line, the mrt or the Airport Rail Link. They are pretty good about accommodating carried or wheeled luggage, people in wheel chairs and so on.
In some cases it might be that the elevator from the ground level is on one side of the street but not on the other side. However, if you look around the area of a bts station, near the steps or escalator leading up to the ticket window from the ground level you will in virtually every case find one.
I hardly ever bother with the traffic jams and delays, expense, potential annoyances and frustrations of a taxi when heading to destination via either Suvarnabhumi International Airport or Don Muang (Domestic) Airport from the bts Nana area anymore since there is a way to get to both on the bts, mrt, walk and wheel my luggage along the skywalk connecting everything now. I can leave my apartment on my own time, never worry about some unexpected accident or construction tie up along the way, never have to Google Translate any BS to and from a taxi driver or anyone else along the way, etc.
Then again, I only take one wheeled carry-on luggage that would fit in. The overhead compartment and a small shoulder bag for any trip anywhere for any length of time and would rather pay a few bucks to get a load of laundry done every few days rather than pack up and bring along half of my closet and bureau drawers to and from another country or another destination in Thailand.
As always, YMMV.
Elevators at BTS stations
This feature would make sense to service disabled, handicapped riders, people with babies strollers or heavy luggage ect. How else would they climb 2 stairs, over 30 ft high to reach the platform?
I noticed elevators at larger stations, but did not find them at Nana, Ploenchitt, Asoke and Thong Lor. May be I was not walking around, looking hard enough.
Can some bros confirm where to find elevators to strategic BTS platforms at Nana, Ploenchitt, Asoke?
All BTS stations have an elevator.
Airport Rail Link, BTS to Ploenchit
I'm typically in Thailand for 3 months, so I do have more luggage than just carry on. In Bangkok I stay at a hotel by the Ploenchit BTS station, so I take the Airport Rail Link to the BTS, then just a few stations to Ploenchit. I have not noticed an elevator at the BTS Ploenchit station to the ground. There is an elevator from the ticket booth area to the platform. It is a little bit of a hassle carrying my luggade down the stairs, but it is down, not up. Going up, there is an escalator, but only after 4 or 5 steps on stairs.
I so much prefer the use of public transportation to the taxi drivers who can be scoundrels (but not nearly as bad as Phuket).
A big improvement at Phaya Thai came a few years ago. There used to be stairs between the Airport Rail Link end point and the BTS. No escalator, no elevator, stairs only. That was all changed a few years ago so now one can wheel luggage from the ARL escalator all the way to the BTS.
