Got what I was Looking For, Dating Apps.
Just reporting back on my findings. So Tinder is much like here in the USA or anywhere really. Lots of matches, little talking, mostly a waste of time in my experience. Bumble is mostly a Western app. Seems like people in Taipei didn't even know about it. Lots of Western travelers and English teachers looking for each other on there. OKCupid, which I consider a half-dead site in the States, is still quite active in Asia and I found what I was looking for there.
I got a ton of matches on there and only responded to girls who wrote me. Chatted quite a bit with a few girls before getting there and quickly just started ignoring more incoming messages. I only had two weeks, wasn't going to try to meet a dozen girls. Met the first one, out of politeness more than anything because she was very nice and offered me a lot of useful travel info, but I didn't think I would be that into her physically. I was right. A light brush off after our first meet, no hard feelings.
The second girl I was excited to meet and I was really taken with her. 100% civilian, not a P4P situation. 30 but you'd believe her if she said 22, no kids, fit, very smart, very cute, excellent English. I was only in country for two weeks and I'm past the point of sport fucking where I'm trying to get with a different girl every night so I spent half of my time in country with her. Had an excellent rapport with her, we traveled around a bit together. If we didn't live 7,000 miles apart I would try to have a relationship with her. Not my first rodeo in Asia, but shit, I was falling for this girl! Also while I'm no stranger to the vacation girlfriend situation, she was particularly impressive in that she tried to pay for things constantly. She bought our train tickets, she booked a movie for us, she paid for meals. If I didn't have my wallet out in a flash, she had picked up the tab, over and over again. I really had to be quite insistent to pay for things sometimes. Better than I've ever found from American girls!
This was my first time in Taiwan and I was quite impressed all around. It's much quieter and more orderly than SE Asia in my opinion. I think the food is just so-so, but overall very functional place. People were polite, pretty good English level in Taipei as well, beautiful natural scenery. Only concern is that I might get a bit bored with such a small island and the cities outside of Taipei dull to me. Actually, even Taipei isn't that exciting to me, but very convenient. I visited a few MPs and will make a separate report on those. Oh one of the only potential pros or cons depending on your taste is these are the skinniest Asians I've ever seen! Straight up and down. There isn't 5 pounds of ass on that whole island, haha. Cute though and the older I get, the more I'll take slim for the long run. Cheers guys!
Hi guys,
I'll be in Taiwan for a little over two weeks beginning at the end of March. Not above P4P action, but it seems limited here and I really prefer just hooking up with regular girls anyways. I'm white, early 30's, fit, clean cut, light hair and eyes. Will most likely be staying in a mixture of hotels and Airbnb apartments. I was thinking of laying down some groundwork with Tinder / Bumble / DIA before getting there and trying to meet some regular girls. Or any advice on picking up on normal girls around the city? I don't speak any Mandarin whatsoever.
