The world is full of people who are unable, and deadly afraid, to express their displeasure with a service in a polite, face-to-face manner. They will look shyly down, nod smilingly when asked how it was, and management will think all was good. Maybe even recommend the girl as "good service" to future customers.

Maybe there are more of these scared mushrooms now than before, but I'm not sure. I suspect it was always the case that some people are like this, and will just swallow the disappointment and "jog on".

There was another shop here last year, maybe still is, which kind of forced the customer to give a rating after service, before exiting out the door. Unfortunately, they set it up in a way that made you do it in front of the girl, so the girl is standing there (at least in my case), looking at you, while management asks you to rate her service from one to five. I can no longer remember what I rated the girl, but remember the managing lady making some "ooh, hmm" sound after I gave my rating, even though I think my rating was not worse than 4.

I concur that the JW Marriott buffet is excellent.

The best gourmet buffet in BKK is at Mandarin Oriental. It is memorable.
