What happened to all the Soi 4 freelancers?
What happened to all the Soi 4 freelancers? I returned to Bangkok after a break and Soi 4 is disappointing to say the least.
Previously there were a hundred ladies of various nationalities filling the street, street good vendors, little street bars springing up. It was a lot of fun.
Now, there's almost no ladies. It's like a ghost town.
No street vendors, no ladies. Boring.
What happened? Where are they all now? Did they move somewhere else?

It was essentially voluntary. There were some stray street vendors and street FLs who did their thing out there right in front of the police anyway. But for the most part they took a break for the week. I was pissed that my favorite Thai milk tea cart on Soi 4 went missing all last week.
Which also reduced pedestrian and customer traffic for many regular businesses in that particular area of lower Sukhumvit. A couple of the hotter Nana Plaza gogo girls and FLs I frequent left town entirely due to the expected slow traffic and took a trip to their families in outer provinces last week. Those who could afford to do that. There were many more FLs on Soi 4 last night after Midnight or 1 am now that the IMF week is over.
