Hi Mick.
Been good at budgeting my past trips to Bangkok. A month will not set me dry. I just don’t want to continue staying at the Nana hotel with their inflated room rates.

Is this the website for the famous Nana hotel? Website pics haven't been updated in awhile. Passed it many times when I was in BKK but never had a chance to stay there. Usually at the Grand Prez but had a bad experience for my last stay so looking for something new. I would like to stay at the Majestic but damn it's expensive. Any opinion on the Ambassador, down the street from the Prez?

I was thinking that Mongering in Pattaya would save you a lot of money over BKK.

Ambassador has joiner fee unless book a double room. Grand President is normally O.K. So what was your big problem with GP?

I've managed to surf and find out the name of the Hotel.It is Sachas Hotel Uno Bangkok ifI'm not wrong.if anyone has checked it out, let us know and see if we can get a good deal.

[/QUOTE]Flew in from Seoul for a trip during May day for 8 days. Game plan was to stay in BKK for 3 days (Grand Prez internet package) then head to Samui for the remainder 5. Got sick so stayed in in GP all 8 days. Ask front desk if they give me same internet package since I'm extending, even with all these open rooms they said no. So they charged me a normal daily rate, free breakfast but not free internet. The help (bell, maid, and doorman) were great but the management suck balls. So that's why I'm looking for another hotel to stay in when I head back to BKK. And that place might be the Dynasty Grande, heard they offered a free ride to Pattaya.

Yes O.K. When extending I have asked in advance if I get the same rate as before. So far I have been lucky enough to get it. Maybe because Hotel was not too busy at the time.

But I find that some desk staff are very helpful and others are not. Quality varies. But having been there a few times I know which staff are best to approach.

Sounds good with perfect location.
But I would watch out for total price including taxes and internet usage charge. Looks like doesn't have a swimming pool and they do not state "free internet".

Probably similar to S15 Hotel.

Colleagues

I have an early evening layover at BKK soon. I really don't have the time or energy to go all the way into the city, but would like a little entertainment.

What I have in mind is to get a room in one of the hotels that advertise as being close to the airport - Queen's Garden, Floral Shire or similar - and enjoy a nice in-house special massage and a few hours sleep.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to which of the airport area hotels would be a good choice for this?

I've visiting BKK a few times and have always stayed in the Suk area. I'm due back in a few months to attend a work conference. The hotel that is hosting the conference is one of the big ones along the Riverside. My previous visits have always been for pleasure only. I have been on a temporary hiatus from mongering but am back in play and this trip will be my celebration to be back in the game. Therefore I don't want to stay in the same hotel as the conference since it is expensive (I can think of a few other ways to spend the money) and not close to the Suk where I know my way around. I am thinking of staying in the Suk and commuting back and forth to the conference. So:

1. Can anyone tell me what sort of travel time I'll be looking at to get from Nana MRT station to the Riverside area? The hotel (The Royal Orchid) is not right by the MRT station down there and would either require a long walk or at the very least a taxi ride. I'll prob have to be at the hotel around 8am in the morning and want to know if its worth it for me to stay in Suk and commute.

2. If this is not feasible are there any good nightlife spots around the Riverside area? I haven't explored Patpong too much but think it would be closer. And can anyone recommend a modest hotel in the Riverside area for 2500 baht range that is girl friendly?

I really appreciate the info and can't wait to get back in the game on this trip.
