BKK is a stopover for me on my way to India, not a destination. With China Airlines that is not an option as the flight to India is direct from TPE to DEL. I would have to pay lot more if I change that routing. Thai is the only one. Also this way I get to stop in Thailand twice. Inbound and outbound.
Thai has introduced premium economy between LAX-BKK with a surcharge of $400.00. Although not biz class, it is better than eco, with wider seats and more recline.

AI - no way. They have to upgrade their service, airplanes before I travel with them. Plus they do not stop in BKK en route. They will be upgrading their planes starting Sept/Oct this year when Boeing starts delivering.
1st and last time I travelled with them was in May 1976.
I Know what you mean Duni, I flew them from LHR to JFK many many moons ago, and it was worse than bad.

Veterano, read my post again, notice I mention BKK LAX BKK, not the other way around. It is 110,000 baht. you get "C" class mileage, and "F" class cabin. Since i make the trip so often, it is beneficial to me to get the tix which begin in BKK. A few years ago, I bought a O/W west coast to BKK, and now all my flights start in BKK

I totally agree with all comments regarding Air India below, tried them once and will never ever go again. Food awful , service despicable, room in econ shocking (battery chickens are better accomodated), plane felt & sounded like it was about to fall apart at any moment.
The Thai desk at Immigration is a booth on the far right, it is beyond the Diplomatic passports just next to the 'Visa on Arrivals' desk.
I've been spending my time doing the usual mad things that one does whilst in Sukhumvit. A few little pointers - Soi Cowboy shows are back to their very best, Long Gun & Suzie Wong have shows to rival Angelwitch in imagination and to rival the Pong in female dexterity ! Further, Cowboy on Saturday night 10pm-12am was so packed that many go-go's were standing room only. If life is hard for bar owners in NEP they need to go up to Cowboy to see why.
The whole of Suk Soi 3 - Soi 15 now seems to be covered with those little drinks bars after 1am - there are so many girls working the road now it is difficult to see why anyone would bf a go-go girl. i know there are some real lookers in the go-go's, but there is a veritable smorgasbord out there on the street. I tried to bf a girl from the Dollshouse- she wanted 2,000bht for st - what's st I asked her ? 1 hour she replies - you're having a bubble !!

I have done this a few times, but typically only for a week (to the UK). I normaly pay for airfare and (of course accommodation & food and some minimal shopping money) and the thai girl is always very attractive and normally not a professional. But i have to admit i always doubt its value for money. I think its better to go to the LOS and try a number of different girls, rather than have only one (although good looking) girl for an entire week - or even worst - a whole month. My advise is try a short trip with someone you like and see if you think its worth it before you go the whole hog. As for cost, as you indicate, very variable.
Anyway, i personally think korean women are much nicer than thai women - so why!!!

I will be passing by Bangkok transit and I was planning to stay for two nights. Unfotunatelly I am arriving on Visakha Bucha Day which is a national holiday. I am afraid that everything will be shut down (bars MP, clubs, Biergarten). If I arrive in Bangkok and I get hard time catching some actio, because of the holiday then it is better if I arrive a couple of days later.
In case any of you fellow members know something more on the action on the Visakha Bucha Day please share the informatinn on the forum.

I am sure there will be an oil massage place open that gives extras but those close by 11pm. At night, there will still be a few freelancers on Sukumvit and Siam Hotel. Good luck!
Don't know if this applies; however, I came in during Songkran and got to Nana plaza after 2:00am. The place was still buzzing, I bought a couple of Singhas from TGs selling it out of coolers. All of the bars were closed; however, fun was still available. Got to love the place.

Thank you both Horntoad and Pool Guy for the information. However I have already shifted my schedule and I will not arrive on Visakha Bucha Day. So I am sure that I get all the action of BKK.
I was in BKK this week and visited the family-favorite Thermae. I was bloody floored when I saw the number of Asians - especially younger Japs - now dominating the customer mix at Thermae. With the change in the prey, so have the hunters changed - girls are clearly gearing themselves for these guys and are trying their best to look like J-girls: from the colored curls to the fake Louis Vuitton handbags. These girls don't even give Farang a look... I saw geezers attempting to use the ancient approach of walk up and grab a girl by the hair and drag her back for a 500b shag... well, these girls either totally ignored them, laughed or moved away.
