I just found this site, and I have to say that I am impressed.

It seems that the Barranquilla forum is the "ugly duckling" compared to the forums for the other Colombian cities, and that is predictable. Colombia does not get the amount of tourism that some other Latin American countries get, and Barranquilla gets the least tourism of the five major Colombian cities. Because of Barranquilla's lack of tourism, it is not surprising that the P4P scene is not as developed as in Medellin, Cartagena, Cali, etc.

I have never been to a Colombian city that I didn't like, and Barranquilla is no exception. Barranquilla has its advantages and disadvantages. Barranquilla's biggest advantage is that there aren't many foreigners there. Likewise, Barranquilla's biggest disadvantage is that there aren't many foreigners there.

Colombians view women as falling into one of three categories:

1. Prostitutes

2. Normal women

3. "Prepagos"

"Prepagos" are women who have sex with men of their choice, at a time of their choice and at a price of their choice - nobody makes their choices for them. By contrast, women that work at Lusitania or other such places are prostitutes.

If you want prostitutes, do not go to Barranquilla. If you want prostitutes, go to Medellin. Cali is also good too, but I am not a fan of Cartagena for long stays.

Can you get prostitutes in Barranquilla? Of course. However, there is really only one quality location - Lusitania. Even at Lusitania, however, the women do not compare to Loutron (in Medellin) or Flores Frescas (in Cali). If you ever bump into the women from Lusitania during the day when you are not drunk, you will see what I mean. The lighting in Lusitania is very flattering, and the women have a stylist that prepares their hair and makeup for them in the evenings.

Please note that the price in Lusitania is 130K Colombian pesos per hour - 100K to the girl, 30K for the room. Do not pay more. Likewise, the girls are not permitted to accept less on the premises. If you invite one to your hotel or apartment for an afternoon, they may charge less.

At Lusitania, the best time to arrive is at about 10 PM. Get a half-bottle of Ron Medellin. The Coca-Cola for mixer, limes and ice service are free. If you buy individual drinks or beers, you will rack up quite a tab - especially when a girl joins you at the table. If you spend some time flirting and joking with a girl while drinking the Ron Medellin, your experience in the private room later will be much better. The waiter gets a 10% tip - no more, no less.

Are there other places? Of course. Zona Rosa is usually a waste of time. Juernes is always a waste of time.

Then there is the Avenida Murillo. I do not recommend these locations for most Gringos. Have I gone? Yes. Should I have gone? Probably not. The area is dangerous, and generally the girls are not attractive. However, there are many locations in that area and all of them are economical options. Sometimes you can find a semi-cute girl, but she likely will be a little rough around the edges.

Avoid a guy named Victor that runs a casa.

The best option in Barranquilla are the Prepagos. However, you often will need good Spanish or a long stay to develop a sufficient network. Alternatively, you can join Amigos.com or Cybercupido.com or LatinAmericanCupid.com or Match.com En Español prior to traveling. Some of the girls on the sites are Prepagos. Also, many of the girls in marriage agencies are Prepagos - despite the claims of agency owners. Specific taxi drivers outside of luxury hotels can also make introductions, but I usually cannot tolerate the high-pressure hustling and general sleaziness of most taxi drivers. Some dance clubs - particularly Frogg Leggs - also are known to attract Prepagos on a regular basis.

Unless the Barranquillera is unusually attractive or you are an unusually unattractive Gringo, 100K Colombian pesos is sufficient for at least a couple of hours.

I have provided my honest opinion. If your honest opinion differs, then say so. If we all agreed on the same horse, then we wouldn't have to race 'em.

I hope this info is of some help to first-timers in Barranquilla. It would be of great help to all of us if we began to collect a list of women and gay men that coordinate Prepago rings in Barranquilla.

Good summary.

You gave a price guideline of 100k for a prepago in Barranquilla. Really, this is just a reflection of what social level you're moving in. Or more correctly, the social level that your contact picks his or her prepagos from.

Prepagos are available at all prices. From 40k or less at the low end, up to insanely expensive prices at the high end.

If you considered it on a distribution curve, I do agree that 100k would be about the median price.

I’m sure their ears must be severely damaged as the noise was close from what a jet's reactor would produce. The second door, at less than 10 meters (11 yards) was just the same: Fatties and very loud music. I didn’t remain more than 30 seconds neither.

I then walked till the third club at the opposite side of the road.

Yep... Murillo con 27 that's the place to go. As for the music... it's loud to you, but they love it. Hell, I love it. That's one of the things I love about Barranquilla... the music, la rumba, the attitutude. Just like the chica and her "boyfriend taxista". You were scared shitless, to them this is normal. Also, you mentioned the fatties. This is where you really have to look for the diamond in the rough. There are some beauties, but you have to search. But for 2k pesos/beer, awesome music, and great shows with no cover, you can't beat it... unless of course the music annoys you. As for paying the bar-fine... she must have been done for the night. There are no bar-fines as far as I know. So she made what you paid her, plus that 30k. No big deal, you'll know for next time. FWIW, it's happened to me like that as well. We live and learn.

Lastly... see what I mean about not negotiating BB in advance? A little bit of chemistry in the room and a small tip will almost always work for you, at least outside of Medellin.

Just like to add my voice to the general approval of Barrenquilla. I was amazed at the quality of the girls in Lusatania and not disappointed with Freddies or Juernes. I was secretly hoping to bump into a great girl I knew from 1998 called Alexandria who worked in the original Zona Rosa but I guess that was to much to expect. Still a good place to find girls you would normally only see in magazines. I have another 2-3 weeks here so will write of any exceptional places I discover. Thanks to the previous reports on this site I didn't waste anytime hitting the right spots.
