I've certainly "stepped in it" enough times myself that I know the smell, the feel of it squishing up between my toes, and the way my neighbors' noses wrinkle in disgust. And yet I can't resist jumping into those suspect mud puddles, either.

All that any of us can know of any of you - unless we meet you somewhere on a punting expedition - is your screen name and whatever we read in your posts. If you've made a lot of good reports that make sense and are informative, my hat's off to you! If I see you get in a flame-war occasionally, I'll wait for the smoke to clear. If [i]all[/i] I've seen you post are flames and insults, oh well....

NOW, how about punting in So'sewer? I'm afraid I was only in town mornings, for the scuba diving, last month.

I am thinking about breaking my Sousa cherry sometime during the 1st 2 weeks in August. I will be flying from Philadelphia to POP. I can book my trip pretty much at the last minute, if necessary.

Anybody have suggestions on a cheap flight? Trying to package a flight and hotel is hard b/c you fly into POP, but stay in Sousa (correct?).

Where should I stay? I want to be able to walk to the beach and to the bars/clubs for chicas. BTW, I speak only a little Spanish.

I will not be renting a car b/c I will be happy with the beach/chicas for entertainment and don't want the p.i.t.a. of the crazy driving.

Suggestions, please.

Prices are ridiculously high during the vacation season. Why rent a car? For the cost of renting a car and insurance, you could have an extra daily piece of puta. Take buses, guagau's, and taxis. Just watch your wallet when a chica slids up to you in a public transport. I have been pick pocketed twice of phone and a little money. Otherwise than that, I have never felt unsafe here. Check into the New Garden, if no room there, they have a nice counterpart 100 yards away. The beaches are in walking distance or you can take a motar, motor bike, and the operator will take you any place. Ask the price first. Oh! Continental flies only on a Tuesday and Thursday. Check on this. Flight is direct and lands midday. I have lived here, not in Sosua, for nearly a year and see owning a car as a pain in the ass. Not only that, they drive crazy here. The food is good in Sosua, and so is the pussy. You might look into the Colibri at the other end of Calle Pisante. Almost across the street from Passions. This a good motel with lots of space and pool. No hassles with guests.

For package deals to Sosua you would have to stay in a hotel that is not chica friendly. Orbitz, travelocity, expedia usually have the Casa Marina All inclusive hotel listed in an air/hotel package.

If you want to go for 7 nights, use Orbitz code: 200entertain, to take $200 off the air/hotel package.

Casa Marina is a decent all inclusive hotel in Sosua, it is a 5 minute walk to the bars where the chicas hang out. If you choose the casa marina, you would have to rent a second room somewhere for your sexual adventures.

Hotel Orchidee and Rockys have rooms for about $25-$30 per night.

In the past I paid about $500 for an air/hotel package from New York to Puerto Plata airport (pop) staying at the casa marina hotel.

If you don't want to do a package deal, then book your airfare and make reservations at one of the chica friendly hotels, new garden, terra linda and there are others. There are also condo rentals available in Sosua.

Bouncers only getting paid in tips in DR? I have never seen it. I have seen very few people give bouncers tips in DR. You can tip a bouncer if you want, but my experiences in DR, the bouncers are getting paid by the owner of the bar/club.

One dude is this bad ass karate expert that used to do security at latinos. Sometimes I invite him up to sosua and let him hang with me. When we depart I slide him a 1k note and say its for his kids. So yes I do tip.

For a package deal staying at an all inclusive hotel in Sosua you will pay more in August and you will pay more if you travel alone (per person price if you travel with a wingman will be less for a package deal). Prices drop in September and October.

You may might to search for 7 night package deals from Newark (ewr airport code) to Puerto Plata (pop airport code) in orbitz. Midweek departures are usually cheaper. Promo code 200entertain will take $200 off a 7 night package deal on Orbitz.

I looked on Orbitz for the first two weeks in August, package prices are almost double, of the prices in September and October. I wouldn't pay the package price they want for August.

For August, your best bet might be to look for the lowest airfare and then book a room in a chica friendly hotel in Sosua.

All the well discussed chica friendly hotels on this board, are less than a 10 minute walk to the beach.

You don't need a car in Sosua. Sosua is very small, just about everything is a five minute walk away.

Puerto Plata Airport is less than 15 minutes away from Sosua.

You mentioned in another post let's get back to business of chica chasing. I agree. I have only personally met three guys on this board, Jao, Boricua, and Joe Roma...oops plus Panman. All of these guys would bend over backwards to help you out. Jao is the friendliest person I have ever met, sometimes just too nice and caring.

I have never met Mr Gogo but exchanged a few messages with him and he is cool with me.

If we reflect the chaos began from posters who have never contributed nothing so let's get back to normal.

I liked the old days when we chatted about the best place to eat or even buy the cheapest ham and cheese sandwich.

Today, sunny and hot in SD. Chicas sexy as usual. Presidente is cold and the Brugal you still need to pour the first few drops on the ground for el muero (sp).

Many of the Sosua Hotels are now $20, and $25 w/ A/C. All of them are suffering and discounting. The same for the all inclusives, Playa Dorado had the big boys in to try and see what they can do to help spur business. Deals everywhere, so before you book on a web-site, call.

not all dominican chicas are sweet and innocent. for me, if a chica really pisses me off, it is just best for me to walk away and calm down.

Those guys are judges, prosecutors and generals in the army in thailand now. Rich guys whose parents could afford to have them study in the U.S. The Thai Military paid for some of the other guys.

I have done that too. Exited a bar or casa with an open bar tab, in DR and went to an ATM machine. The banco popular ATM in Sosua, is one minute from Classicos on a moto. There is a security guy standing near that ATM machine late at night.

I remember one time in Santo Domingo, I exited coppa discoteca (I had an open bar tab) and I took a taxi to get some chica at her house. I was gone for an hour. I got back to coppa ordered more drinks with the chica, no problem.

So you make a bad choice and get ripped off once in a while, its part of the game. Better than finishing up in the alley. You don't hafta go back There's lots more bars.

Where I drink, they know me. I can leave my beer on the bar tell 'em I'll be back in 5, and hop a motoconcho to the ATM. Hell, I can even check bar down the street, and they know I'll be back.
