As I stated before, the police are only a problem in the Cartagena tourist area because Cartagena it is a tourist destination. Just use a little more diligence in this area. If you are unlucky to stopped by the police, and you are doing something wrong, offer them a few bucks and you should be fine.

Made us get out of the car and empty our pockets. Even had the chicas open up their purses. Did not shake us down but one time gave my friend a hassle for having a couple pills of sildenafil in his pocket. I would never carry anything in my pocket. Watching too many episodes of "locked up abroad!" LOL.

Some nights I have been checked as much as three times some nights never get checked. Sometimes in a taxi the police will just check me sometimes they will just check the chicas but most of the time they will check both of us and ask the taxi driver to open the trunk of the car to look in. If you don't have drugs it's no problem.

About the sildenafil pills if they are still in the package they never ask what it is, but when the pills are loose in your pocket they will ask you. If I take sidenafil pills with me I take them out of the box and leave them in the package you pop the out of. I have never had any problems doing it that way.

I've just arrived in Cartagena and will stay for a while. I am looking for a place like cafe rojo in quito ecuador. This place was the best. About 20 girls to choose from and mainly hot Colombianas. It was like a club with rooms upstairs and it was really cheap. 20 US$ to fuck or to have a private dance. You just approached the girl you like and that s about it. No negotiating, buying her a drink or whatsoever. The best was it is open every day from lunch time.

Let me know if something similar exists here.

If you had done your research before you went then you would know that Cartagena is not cheap for mongering, especially so if you think you are going to point and click. Your best chance / lowest price is to get short time from a girl you see at the beach and I am sure that it is going to cost you more than $20.

Are they still functioning? Is there a casa culture, even if its a taxi ride away from the town square?

Just got back from a week in Cartagena. Quality of chicks at LDV has gone down the tubes! On the bright side, Parika is hopping again like the good old days. A note about policia. Seems to be more than usual. One night we left LDV and headed for Paprika. My friend his girl and myself. There was a checkpoint by that policia median. They made everyone get out of the taxi and patted me down, patted my friend down and fingered his wallet. Checked the chica's bag before letting us go. Lucky I insisted that the chica leave everything she had at the apartment. A couple of days later, Tony is finding a chica for my friend. He is out in the street paying for the taxi when a ton of police scooters surround them. The massage chica on the beach was telling us about personal usage sizes, but apparently the chica had too much perico on her and they were taking her down to the station. We wasn't sure if Tony got nabbed too. Anyways, we hightailed it back to the beach. Not sure what happened to Tony after that. That Saturday night, they wouldn't let Taxis into Centro. Apparently. 5 South American presidents were having dinner at a restaurant in Centro. Policia everywhere.

(1) Was in Cartagena in 2009. Got an apartment from Mary in the tourist area, which is

An area with lots of apartment buildings.

It is In-between the Hilton Hotel and La Dolce Vita.

Is Mary still around? Does anyone have contact info for her?

If she's not around, can you recommend someone else who rents apartments in that area?

I want to stay in the same area.

(2) Was looking for a list of taxi drivers to show me around to nite clubs, girls, beaches, houses etc.

Found a driver list in the "list" section of the forum, but it's from 2011. Any more recent Cartagena driver list?
