Of course in reality, very few Thai girls are virgins at 18, and a very significant percentage have babies already due to poor Thai culture and education about preventing pregnancy. The condoms idea just doesn't work. The sex after marriage idea is laughable.
Of course significant western teenagers get pregnant also. Their simple solution is to get an abortion.

I find it a little mystifying that the law could forbid me from having sex with a fully mature woman who wants to fuck me for money (because she needs the money badly), and has a baby already, but happens to be 17. This girl has been fucking others for years (and unprotected). Horny little mynx. Still the law is there. It is a big problem for the girls that they are not legally permitted and can get nabbed by the police. It's no big problem for us unless we accidentally make the mistake and get caught.

We need to be aware the girl we fancy may well be younger than what we think, despite having a child already. Thai girls can be small and cute. It is very hard to tell if they are 17 or 24 sometimes. I think it is a lot easier to guess the age of western girls.

I never target young girls on purpose. My favourite girl is 35. Just that once girls are mature, it is hard to tell the age. Some certainly have magnificent tits at age 18 (or less). Every time I see perfect non saggy tits, I should be seeing a danger warning. Check that citizen card. If the girl is a mother, there seem to be no obvious signs to look for that she might be too young.

It is a big business for falsified records in Thailand. I wonder if many fake identity cards are in use the may alter the girl's birth date.

Anyway, according to the page below the age of consent is 15. However (and I quote): sex with a minor under the age of 18 is a compoundable offense, regardless of consent.

I never heard anyone claim 15 before and what you wrote seems self contradictory. I have seen laws posted before translated to English, but as ET said they appear vague and confusing and open to interpretation.

Somewhere along the line I think I heard something about being able to marry a 15 year old Thai with the parents' consent. Would that mean parental consent (or mere awareness) gives the ok to having sex as well? LOL. Again, it is vague and I have not seen this spelled out specifically in Thai law but maybe it is there somewhere.

I think one reason I tend to just repeat it as 18 here and if asked by visiting friends is because of another interesting spin on the issue if you are a citizen of the USA. Even though the age of consent might be lower than 18 in some USA states, there is a weird feature in the law about traveling over state lines and into other countries "for the purpose of having sex" with someone under the age of 18, REGARDLESS what the age of consent is in that state or country. Yes, that would mean if it could be shown by communication documents, written letters, email or social media chats, that a resident of, say, California (were it is 18) arranged in advance to meet with a girl in another state or country where the age of consent is under 18 and traveled there with that goal in mind, he could be charged with a federal crime by the USA for doing so. In fact, I believe that even if the age of consent in HIS state is, say, 16 and he travels to another state where the age of consent is 16 with that goal in his stated plan, he could still be charged with the "under 18" threshold offense with regard to travel plans.

However, if he is merely traveling around the USA or around the world and just happens to meet a young lady under the age of 18 but of legal age there and he and she then decide to engage in sex not having stated that in advance as a goal of his travel plan, that is NOT a federal crime in the USA. Unless it turns out that feature in USA law has been changed or does not really exist, that is a very, very weird nuance in USA law on this issue.

Therefore, whenever the subject is brought up and particularly when I am talking to a fellow USA citizen, I just say 18 and leave it at that because I have no idea what kind of written trail of evidence that guy has left behind suggesting he made this trip with a plan to get down with a girl under the age of 18 or not.

In the Netherlands, where I am from, we have a similar law but it's much more straightforward: for us it's simply forbidden to have sex with anyone under the age of 18 anywhere in the world regardless of the age of consent of the country where we are. And as far as I know many other (Western) countries have this law as well.

Just wanted to enquire on whether The Darwin Bangkok at soi Nana is girlfriendly. Read in an old post at tripadvisor that they had asked guest fee of 1200, but that was a post of a long time back. Any updates?

I have a week planned in April next year in Bangkok.

My plans involve a significant amount of horizontal aerobics and after two previous visits to BK I have decided being around Nana Plaza is where I want to be.

I have booked;.

Salil Hotel.

Nana Hotel.

Dynasty Grande Hotel.

Majestic Suites.

Via Agoda and can cancel any of them up to around to weeks before I head over.

Which one would you stay at?

I am intending no LTs, just STs via GoGos / Smooci, FLs and Oilies.

Thanking you in advance.[/QUOTE]I stayed at Salil hotel (soi11) twice. Nice hotel, good AC and wifi, quiet. Good breakfast buffet with western and asian food. I had 3some there and not need to pay extra fee for the third guest. No swimming pool nor gym.

Nana hotel is very good if you like to spend time in soi4 and for FL girls working in the soi and in the parking lot of the hotel. I stayed there 10 years ago and the room was very old. I don't know if they have renovated the rooms.

Looking for a reasonable size double room with in room wifi and ideally a walk-in shower rather than an over the bath type shower. So I will appreciate any advice. Not bothered about the hotel having a gym or a pool.

The Dynasty Grande is the most up market of those, and would be my choice. Great pool. Great bathrooms. Others stay at Nana to be right mixed in with all those hookers and ladyboys. That is just a little bit too cozy for me. Majestic Suites is probably okay Has to be booked in advance typically or sold out.

[/QUOTE]I once went into the Ambassador a few years ago and didn't like their walk-in rate so I sat in the lobby and booked online, then walked to the desk to check in.

I agree that booking so far in advance is strange, especially in Bangkok where there are heaps of nice hotels for reasonable prices. Unless I wanted to stay somewhere specific I wouldn't book that far ahead.

Their direct online rate is cheaper than booking through Agoda and payment not required until I check in. 7 nights for a double standard room is THB 13,613 nett. I would have booked the Majestic Suites but it is fully booked for the period in September that I am looking for.

It's a rite of passage and you'll be in kinship with fellow mongers from the days of the Vietnam War to the present day. The NANA HOTEL was the hotel of choice for thousands of servicemen who were on rest and relaxation from the Vietnam War; and their spirits still roam its lobby and rooms.

If you reserve the most expensive rooms at the NANA HOTEL, they are the re-modeled ones and they're fairly nice. If you decide to book one of the cheaper rooms, you can join the group that constantly bit*ch and moan that it's rundown.
