AFAIK to register you will need an internet conection and a German address.
Did you register by yourself or you ask the Staff to do it for you?

If you are a frequent travellers to Germany it is a good idea to have a prepaid SImcard with longer expire date. For instance you might need it on your next travel when you are arriving late in the evening to navigate you using navigation such as Google map to your Hotel, etc.
Does anyone know german pre-paid Simcard which will valid for at least three months and not one month ??

I've been able to buy a sim card twice at Dusseldorf airport with no problems, I didn't even need an ID just paid for it with a credit card.

Cost is 1. 95€ / 24 h period of usage.

I have tried some different options and this is the best one I have seen. Have used it for 4 years now.

That will answer most of your questions, if you invest some time in it.
