Come on in, the water's fine
I spent the mornings scuba-diving off Sosua, last month, when I was staying at Blackbeard's. I've been to prettier beaches, better surf, more and nicer feminine scenery - but the diving was fine, the reefs pretty healthy (some bleached soft-corals but not enough to call it "ruined"), and the swimming was fine between dives.
We aren't choosing Sosua for the beach, anyways. At least I'm not. I'll go back because I can do scuba-diving all day and muff-diving all night.
All that said what makes the DR very interesting to me is the beach. When in the DR I spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing on the beach.

If it's like that, then I need to check out Medellin because I thought the public beach in Sosua sucks ass, anyway.

Lagocache I thought I was the only one who thought Sosua's beach sucked.

In all my visits I have never been in the water at Sosua beach. Sosua beach is for picking up girls, kicking back and having a beer with a great view, and buying tee shirts.
