First I think when you said "NYE" you don't mean New York but mean New Years Eve!

Based on the time your are arriving it's either Northwest or Japan Airlines. I have arrived at this time a number of times through the years. In the past I make sure I sit near the exit door and once I'm out I do a quick walk Olympic style past everyone to the Immigration. Once through I get my bags, meter taxi to Nana Hotel, check into room and I'm back out by 1 or 1:15. Pretty of time to go across the street to NEP, and if you're alittle late you can watch outside NEP, and Nana parking lot. Don't see anything go down Sukhumvit opposite Landmark Hotel and check out all the freelancers. Check out Embassador Hotel disco downstairs or outside when it closes. Don't see anything continue down Sukhumvit down to Thermae's and even all the way to Soi Cowboy for freelancers.

You might even want to make a booking at Tulips to have someone meet you at your hotel. Now if you do mean New Year Eve, and I've never been to Bangkok on that day or time you might have problems with traffic. Now if you are planning NYE in Pattaya disregard.

Yes...New Year's Eve weekend, but I arrive into BKK on 12/28 on United and am not expecting anything other than normal traffic for a Monday evening. I am in economy plus close to the exit and am not planning to check luggage, so I do expect to emerge from immigration fairly quickly. So maybe I should just take a chance and stick with the original plan and just see how it goes? The worst case scenario is that I will head back to the room after a few drinks and get some needed rest before heading to Pattaya the next day. I picked the Landmark because of its close to proximity to NEP so I could be out the door by 1:15 if all goes to planned and have a selection before closing time.

This is my first trip to Asia. I do most of my mongering in the Caribbean, so the Bangkok scene is very new to me. The Caribbean is laid-back and low pressure. Places like Campo Alegre in Curacao are more like resorts with extras. You kick back with a beer in a safe, protected environment and choose from 150 Latinas that each have their own room in a small village-like setting. No hassle, no hustle, no problems, no fears, no worries.

Bangkok seems like it is just the opposite, wild, crazy and chaotic. It will take some getting used to but I am really looking forward to it. I have learned a lot reading the forum but still have a couple of quick questions.

I arrive next Sat night at 11:40PM and I will be staying at the Narai on Silom. I expect to get there sometime after 1:00 AM. Will there be any action in that area at that time? Any possibility of finding a massage at that hour? Is everything open on Sundays?

I read that the bar at the Narai is open until 2am. If I am there before it closes, what are the chances of meeting a girl there, pro or non-pro?

I do know that the Narai has a joiner fee and I have no problem with that for an overnight guest. How do hotels handle a 2-3 hour massage/ST visit? Same fee? No fee?

Other than those questions, I think I have a fairly good idea of where I want to play on this trip. SOL, Annies, Eden and a few others are definitely on the short list. Of course Patpong will be my home turf (walking distance) but the skyway looks pretty easy to use to get to the other playgrounds.

Hopefully I won't be too much of an easy mark, even as a newbee. I consider myself an experienced traveler and not a casual tourist. I hang out in some pretty hard-core parts of places like Jamaica and have a pretty good bullcarp radar. It seems like it's the same dance, but with different music.

Of course the little head has a mind of it's own and it can be very persuasive. Fortunately, the big head only consumes water or diet coke while on the prowl so situational awareness won't be compromised.

Do you have any ISG reports that you can reference with more specific information?

There's a lot of fun to be had in places that are rarely mentioned on this forum, but that's something that comes with exploration. Silom Rd. traffic is bad during the day, but it is fairly quiet after 9 or 10 pm. Lots a of great places to eat in Silom (mostly on side sois), some very good day markets, and the of couse, infamous Patpong at night. Just remember: Do not take rides in tuk tuks unless just for joyride, and only take taxis that will turn the meter on [i]before you get in[/i] and close the door.

The massage shops close around here close at midnight or earlier (Happy, Lisa, etc). One of the guys at the hotel might know a close-by shop to call (for his cousin). If you feel like a walk, there will be a few beer bars open up on Patpong 2 that will have a few girls left. Some of them do not even show up until midnight. The go-go clubs close around 2am, but most of the "nice" ones will already be gone. I would recommend walking up Silom on Narai side of the street to Patpong Soi 2. Walk down Soi 2 past the Foodland store and look for the Cleo Beer Bar. It's a funky old spot right next to the Star of Light (SOL). Have a beer, watch the crazy late night scene for a little while, and you might meet a nice girl at the bar (not beautiful but friendly). There's a short time hotel back toward Silom just past the Foodland on the right (sorry, can't remember the name). If you don't feel like dealing with taking a girl ST or LT the first night you can check out the SOL. Better yet, do that right off the bat as they close around 2am. You can then have your beer at Cleo as it stays open 24/7. Watch out for ladyboys. :eek:

When tourism is healthy, the buses line up deep out in front every morning. The bar? Maybe, but it's pretty quiet in Bangkok right now and that's fairly late. Might just be you and the bartender.

No fee?[/QUOTE]Narai might have a "go to" massage shop that delivers. They usually get a cut from the rate. Just ask someone who looks like they're smart (and speaks your language). Most of the time they just take the visiting MP's id card before escorting her to your room (maybe). I've had good luck with late night delivery from [i]Sabai Sabai Massage[/i] on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Not sure if a girl will come over to Silom from Suk, but usually the traffic is not too bad at 2am. Things are very slow right now and money is money. A delivery oil massage will cost about 1000 baht for the shop and the girl will ask for the moon and settle for 1500-2000 for FS.

The BTS has easy access to Nana and Soi Cowboy (Asoke Station). You can walk to Chong Nonsi station from Narai Hotel in 5 minutes or take a motorbike taxi in one. You'll want to return in a taxi if you pull a girl at Cowboy or Nana and plan on Narai for the night. Might be better to use a short term hotel near the mongering areas as you might not want the girl all night the first time. A lot of them will only go ST anyway. PB Hotel, anyone? I'd be careful about pulling girls from Patpong, (trust me, I know this first hand).

I second that. I usually ask "pai XXX dai mai?" before i get in. If they agree I get in. If they don't turn on the meter within 5 seconds I get out. I very seldom have to get out, but I sometimes have to ask 3 or 4 taxis before I find one who will go where I want. Usually after asking 2 taxis I walk away from the waiting taxis and flag a moving one. These are usually OK to go wherever.

Ok guys. I am going to BKK end of this month for 3 nites. I have read through most of the post and I have been there once 2 years back. I've also stayed at Majestic Grande but didn't' bring anyone back. Seemed to be more families around but I would expect it to be safe. Citichic is also owned by same people and have stayed there several times and can report it is def GF as well.
