We started at Cafe Havana. First off, the descriptions of location on this forum were not great. It is on the ground level (not 2nd floor) and while underneath the banana leaf restaurant that is one of probably 10 on the second level so no special landmark. Also, most importantly, it is primarily outside of the building so from the street you have to around to the farside and then out the door. That is also true for the Starbucks which as indicated is next door.

We got there around 7:30 and had dinner there. Friendly and pretty waitresses and good food.

I think we were there until after 10 and were very disappointed with the number of freelancers. It was Saturday night and quite crowded but mainly with groups and couples. There are some KTVs where they strip down, but if they cater to foreigners then inevitably you get nicked too much, and in too many different ways. I haven't been to Asia Ent. Or Miss Universal but, from the reports, can't say I'm too eager to go. For something cheaper you can try the places in Quiapo and Santa Cruz (along CM Recto Ave and Quezon Ave. Near the Rector intersection). This is where locals go and, in fitting with the area, there's a huge grot factor. The bad places even have roaches crawling around. You might see a P50-100 cover and P35-50 San Miguels with a 2-drink minimum.
