It takes a bit of time on your part, but it was worth it. The reason why I am writing this is to assist my fellow punters to significantly reduce the cost of punting in this such great city.

When come to Punting using public transport and avoid using taxi or renting a car will significantly reduce your punting expense. Also using public transport in Berlin you could enjoy drinking as much as you want in a flat rate or Partytreff and GB party.

The public transport of Berlin is excellent and safe. You could reach almost all comers of Belin by Pubic transport, and one day Travel card for Zone ABC only cost EUR 7. 60 and valid until 03.00 the following day. Literally you could reach any corner within walking distance using public transport even early in the morning. I never use the taxi and I have been travelling even 04.00 to catch the early morning flight. My only complaint is that the ticket machine does not accept Master / Visa Card. I found this is very strange for such and international and the great city like Berlin. SO for those traveling from outside Eurozone better to prepare ten euro banknote or coin to buy the public transport in the ticket machine as soon as you arrive in the airport.
