I have no first hand knowledge about this, though I will reach out to a few friends there today. But you make an excellent point.
Granted, it's one of a few hotels that would be very girl friendly. But that's about the only benefit. I suppose having a room above the bar would be a plus. But there's no real benefit there because I take the girls to a better hotel. And the girls prefer that.
To your point, it's unique in that is is a mongering hotel. It's also baffling that they would change the model because they're usually at 100% capacity.
But they've always had to battle some politics. Their neighbors are not fans of the place. And they have had their share of issues with the city, be it licensing or complaints.
All that said, why would you buy that place and then eliminate the number one draw? It's not like anyone goes there for a luxury room. And the location isn't horrible but it's not walking distance to anything a monger wants except for a few massage places in Rio Sur. That would be an odd purchase, in my opinion.
The closest that I see for this type of hotel is Blackbeard's resort in Dominican Republic where every guest is a monger and they have prescreened girls in their pool area. I'm actually surprised that Medellin has not opened another establishment like Hotel M since it's such a great business model.
