Thanks for the tips on where to get decent food at reasonable prices. I didn't quite go to TGIF or Rock Cafe (fuck, I wouldn't travel that far to go to those places). All I wanted were some decent Sushi, decent local or decent spicy food (thai, korean, etc.). I would have to remember SM Glorietta next time I am in Manila.

Another foreigner, pushing his culture on everyone else. Guys who do tip big to service personnel do create an expectation on the part of locals towards foreigners.

While not a cheap charlie, and having been accused of being otherwise here, I basically just walk past steet kids and beggars without giving them anything as there are so many so he should be happy he got something. You could've reminded this kid that 20 peso is basically half and hours work for a sales lady in SM, whom I believe are up to 360 peso per day now or about one hour if he can find an employer that actually pays as high as the minimum wage.

As for the taxi driver if the meter said P93 I would have given P100 unless we had been stuck in traffic for a long time. There is just not a tipping culture in taxis in Asia and it is annoying how in Manila the drivers think that anyone who is white should pay more than anyone else, not really a problem I have in too many other places in Asia.

Its been almost 7 long weeks since I hit Manila. And I'm ful of energy for my next trip. A week in China was interesting but didn't hit the spot the way Manila does.

My sched is as follows.

1. Arrive early. I mean horribly early thanks to Cebu Pac. At 6am, yes folks you read it right will pick up a new gal at makati, then off to bed for sleep. Promised to wear al the slutwear I have. Will kick her out by 2pm.

2. Massage girl scheduled for the afternoon. 23 and on DIA. She looks game.

3. Evening will be in Burgos for a few then off to meet the 22 yr student who had a cucumber (literally) last time. Oh and me in her rear facing parts LOL.

4. Sunday lunch its a 19 year old who wants to dress up and hopefully down. Studying on TAFT but not sure where Makati is isn't a good sign, but theres Ms 20 whos plan be.

5. Evening is massage girl who fell in love with me on last trip. She's got the cheerleader uniform for her wearing pleasure and my cameras pleasure.

6. Monday is work. But have a vacancy between 4-8pm for an old friend who is now free, having broken up with her fiance. And that will be my restful peaceful relaxing weekend.

Second taxi drivers in Manila are funny in that they are pathological liars. Case in point one wonderfully nice guy picked me up in his decrepit heap of stinky smokey junk and started the " where you from, how long you stay routine (yes the same one as the bargirls!). I half answered and he politely explained that thee was traffic so he knew a long way that was quicker etc and maybe best we don't use the meter.

We carried on for a while like this, with his radio blaring. After a few minutes I politely asked him in my best Tagalog would he mind turning down the radio (" para pake hina'an radyo mo") His mouth dropped and he said " sir you arent a tourist ". No I replied I've been living here almost as long as Red Kilt. He then started joking, put the meter on and took the most direct way. He had been found out and he was a tad embarassed. Was funny but says something about their style.

So I do hope some guys do not tip or tip small amounts.

I empathize with the economic situation. I do believe we can make it worse by giving too much money.

Create in their minds that all foreigners are going to need to give them extra money.

I have seen it that they actually become very hostile because they may expect a lot.

And maybe you only have enough cash to get you through the day? Until you get some more money changed/

Its also personal choice and should not be demanded so I don't see why anyone would be critical of someone not tipping.

For the driver to complain after you already gave something was kind of weak. I'm curious how you did Burgos? Did you pay barfines or what? A lot of people say there is no talent in MBC, but man, I've had good luck there. Sure the majority I won't mess with, but there is talent in there at the prime times. The bars in EDSA and Burgos' lighting makes the women look better a lot of times than they are where the light is more natural in MBC.

The female security guard at the door quoted me a 150 peso "hotel rate" for a taxi to Mall of Asia. I told her to fuck off and got a metered taxi for 60 pesos. Between the taxi drivers, waitresses, mamasans and bar girls all trying to fleece foreigners it's no surprise that some sex tourists find themselves unable to pay transportation to the airport or the exit tax.
