I have tried this http://www.bumrungrad.com/ and I can say was the best value for my money for clean and check 1 hour work less than USD 100
I wasn't aware the hospital had dental services. Near NEP is a plaza with Starbucks and Burger King that has a dentist on the second floor who did the same for 800 baht, under 30 CDN. She also took all the tea and coffee stains off.
Just a question - do anyone know of a trustworthy place in BKK where I can have my teeth professionally whitened. If anyone has had a good experience, please pass it on.
And in anticipation of "what has this to do with the hobby" kind of question, this would be my chance to get away to BKK for a weekend to practice the hobby. And it would stop the nagging about my teeth going yellow or brown too!
Dental White Soi 22... Can laser whiten them or have enamels. I've used them and I know about six other mongers that have used them. Have the contact info you want it. Enamels take a few visits, laser is an hour or so. Would highly recommend them.

Already sent them a query for cost for Bleaching, as I understand your estimation was for Clean & Check.
Will report as soon as I get a reply.

I would probably go for laser (1 time visit and that's it) and price is not an issue. However, are there any limitation before or after the procedure with laser? as in not chewing for so and so hours etc.?

I have had 8 implants done here and could not be happier. They do everything, they even have there own lab, so the turn around time is very fast for crowns, etc.
Check out the site---very close to nataree ;)
They are not the cheapest, but the quality and follow up care has been excellent. The cost is about 1/3 of what i would have paid in the states.

Thanks for all the dental tips below, saves me asking as well.
(Had my own flash of inspiration in respect to the question "how to justify more BKK trips this year?" :) )

(Had my own flash of inspiration in respect to the question "how to justify more BKK trips this year?" :) )
Just a stupid thing to throw in here:
I get those Crest Whitestrips, the industrial ones that dentists use. You can get them on eBay and secretly have them sent to your place (they come in a little manila envelope.) Lots of people tell me what a great smile I have (Thai chicks just LOVE that pearly white sheen) and I attribute a good part of that from the confidence I get from using the strips a couple of times a year. (A big dimply faced smile gets you places that a lot of farangs in Thai miss out on.) They are about $40, including shipping, and they work fast. Three days and you will go up 4 shades, a week and you get almost as white as you can go. Use them for two weeks and you will instantly become a newscaster chick on CNN. (I actually think that they work BETTER than the professional sessions, and they don't hurt.)
This way, you can tell the missus that you have to go back to Bangkok next month for another treatment, (and, you will save enough dough to get laid a couple more times as well, heh)
Just to be clear, this is what they look like:

Driver needed
Heya guys,
The Mrs and I will be in Thailand this weekend. We are going to Phuket for some R&R ( and yes shes open minded and wanting to join in my extra activities. Which is why I am interested in her. ) But we are going to bangkok on Wednesday the 7th and was thinking about hiring a driver for a few days. Anyone know a good driver that will hire out for a few days? We basically are not looking to get into a cab with someone that has no references and you guys seem to be on top of things around here. Cheers - DD

Skytrain BTS tickets
Hi guys,
I know this is an off topic, but I am wondering could you advise me? I am travelling with a group which will include two small kids, one age 18mths approx. (less than 2 years old) and the other is 5/6 years old. I've checked the bts website and can't get an info on child tickets. I've tried emailing bts direct without success and putting a post on their forum some weeks back which never appeared.
I know for an adult you just buy a smartpass of 100bth (incl. 30bth refundable deposit) and topup as you go, but what is the situation with children under the age of 6 years? Do they travel free?
Anyone with some insight or direction would be much appreciated.
Rgds.

Hi, you sound like you've never been to BKK before. In general there is no problem with taxis. The place is full of them and you just hail one and tell him where you want to go and insist that he turns the meter on (more than likely he will anyway). If you want to hire one for the day, then ask the hotel you are staying in and they will arrange one for you. Generally they have "taxi's" who are run by the hotel itself. If your hotel doesn't, for some reason, then go to some other hotel nearby who does, you won't have to look too hard. Don't be shy with the taxis in BKK they are ok.

Eagle - children under 90cm travel for free on the BTS*. Travel on the BTS is very cheap - longer trips cost around 35-40 baht, so don't worry, just go and enjoy it. It is definitely the way to get around Bangkok if the BTS goes near your destination. I also found it fun to go to the station by the river and grab the river express taxi (also incredibly cheap - like 13 baht - if you avoid the tourist boats) to go upriver and avoid Bangkok traffic and enjoy a nice ride on the river. You can see the connections on any tourist map - lots to grab at the airport for free.
Also, the smartpass is convenient, but you do not need to buy the smartpass - you can pay for each trip separately in convenient machines at each station. Just press the button for the destination station and the machine tells you the fare (based on a zone system).
*according to a number of websites I found by googling... e.g., http://bangkok.angloinfo.com/information/42/busses.asp
enjoy

I have been to BKK before but I was looking for someone that has references and offers that personal service. Last time I was there I had some issues with the drivers and I now refuse to just pick any driver without references. The guy wanted to charge me over 14000 for 3 days when we agreed on 8000 for the 3 days 8 hours of driving a day including gas. Needless to say I didnt pay the 14000 but I did pay the 8000.

What does "Dental White" charge? I have been checking out some places in Pattaya to have laser whitening done, but their prices are not that much less than here in US (CA).
Thank you.
