Feb is after the holiday you should able to find a room in Pattaya without any problem soi 8 area is a good place to start many 2-3 star hotel around 700 bht and up and is central locations near the actions , I been to Pattaya many times never have problems getting room .

Smily[/QUOTE]Feb is still part of the high season but you should be able to get a room. But I'd book something for a couple of days just so that I have something when I get there. If you're new to Pattaya if may take a couple of days just to get the lay of the land. If I'm going straight from the airport to Pattaya I want to check in and freshen up and relax some before heading out. I really don't want to be dragging a suitcase around with me while trying to find a room at the same time. Then you can search around and find what area you like the best and then find a room that suits you close to where you will be most of the time. But with the baht buses the action is a short ride away from any parts of Pattaya!

If you are coming from Bangkok you might want to catch the free shuttle from the Dynasty Inn (in the Nana Plaza area) as you only have to prepay for two days at the Dynasty Inn in Pattaya which is on Soi 13. This way you stay at the Dynasty Inn in Pattaya for two days and then move to what you might find after getting there.

The hotel is excellent. You get a suite which has all you will need. Staff are great and in the evenings there is an all you can eat steak and seafood barbecue.

Baht buses pass every minute or so and you have a choice of Pattaya or Jomtiem.
Laundry in house or across the road.

The Residence Garden is OK. I personally don't like it much because I don't like the "basic" furniture and that the bedroom is facing the street, which can be noisy at night or early morning. But besides that there are no major issues against it.

Just had a look at it two months ago - it's directly behind Lenkee's - and it's no place I would like to stay.

Hi,

I stay at the Residence Garden quite frequently and will be there for the whole of February.

Pros: You get 2 seperate rooms, living room (with basic cooking) and bedroom. Never any hassle with taking guests back to your room.

I think the website price of 1399 baht is pretty good value when compared to some other places

Cons: About a 15 minute walk to the action in South Pattaya. During the day there no problem getting Baht busses (10 baht) that pass the hotel as its on a main route. Can be a pain at night and I sometimes take a (dangerous) motorcycle taxi.

The bedroom is facing away from the main road is so is fairly quiet, the living room overlooks the road and can be noisy.

The swimming pool are is about 10 metres from the main road and therefore always noisy, so if you plan to hang around the pool all day this might be a problem.
The hotel is fairly new and in good condition, maybe the furniture is a little hard but I need plenty of support , the state I get into at times.

I'm pretty sure you'll find it good value for money. Its a good place to start and if you dont like it you can move on, getting a hotel in February shouldn't be a problem other that at Chinese New Year (Feb 18)

Thank you all for your well apreciated thoughtful advice! I´ll do like you suggested, having a reservation for the first 2-3 days. Just wanted to be sure about the follow up that may last 3-4 weeks, maybe with a sidetrip to Chiang Mai.

Sorry, one question still remains:

What about using a travel agency while there, for getting a better deal than just walking in the hotel? Any experience from the seasoned travellers?

The money saved could be well invested in extra activities. Soi 8 and Soi 13 sounds great.

I always find hotel room in pattaya never book on line nor use travel agency ,there is many hotel room in town I stay at flipper lodge alot at soi
8 at 800 bht a night nice pool just remodel .

when I stayed there some years ago I adressed that issue to the manager (british or scottish guy, don't remember). He admitted it and excused it with having "some problems" with the pest control company he had hired. The fact that the problem still exist is proof enough that he is the problem, not pest control.

I used to own property in LOS and pest control was never a prob. The were quiet reliable and roaches - even though you can't get rid of them completely - weren't an issue. I guess the guy is just cheap and does not hire any pest control at all or - which is worse - the place is too dirty to keep it under control. Don't want to see their kitchen.

I have had to book this hotel because my usual first choice are fully booked. Is this hotel girl-friendly?

As far as I know, all Sawasdee hotel in Patts are GF (as of last year) as long as you book a double.
