I'd rather be a cheap bastard than a stupid bastard!
So you gave the guy less than a dollar tip? How big is two dollars in your life? If you can't give a decent driver a simple dollar trip then I can only imagine the girls you beat down? A fucking dollar? You got to be kidding me. How big is two dollars in his life? Alot more significant as it is in your life.
Cheap bastasrd
Whether in Philippines, US, or any other part of the world, the decision to tip (or not) is completely up to the customer. It is called a "gratuity" because it is meant to be given as thanks for a job well done. Anyone demanding a tip, of any amount, gets absolutely nothing from me! I don't care if it is only a dollar or two. It's my choice!
The majority of Filipinos think foreigners are rich, and therefore must cough up those riches for their demands of tips. On top of prejudicial pricing (foreigners pay more than locals) , this makes a nice vacation into something that someone might not want to return to again. And jack@sses That defend the locals for demanding a tip, are just as bad.
Bottom line, if the service is good enough that you feel like gratefully tipping, have at it. If not, keep you money."The customer is always right!"
Manila Is Not Rodeo Drive
Screaming Beaver, nice move on that taxi fuck. Manila taxi drivers behave like spoiled children when they see foreigners. Hopefully, he learned something from your lesson.
Yeah, I thought offering a 29% tip was very generous for that part of the world. Perhaps the poster labeling me a Cheap Charlie would prefer me paying what it would cost here in the USA. My taxi fare to and from the airport here in USA was $75 each way. I'm sure that kind of jack would have the taxis in Philly lining up a mile long wanting my business. LOL.
I'll tell you what did make me feel like a Cheap Charlie last week. I met this 19 year old on one of the dating sites who lived out in the province. I invited her to come visit me in Makati. She ended up taking 2 trike rides. 3 Jeepney rides, a long bus ride and then one more Jeepney which took over 2 ½ hours. Unfortunately she did not pass the interview but my guilt kicked in and I gave her 300 pesos. I'the bet half the guys on this site would say I'm a Cheap Chalie and the other half say I'm ruining the market!
Strange question (or not?) : Russians
Dear fellow monger friends,
Have been to Manila many times, always appreciated Burgos, Edsa, etc. But now looking for something different. Any ideas on whether there are clubs where Russian or Ukraine ladies are trying to earn a living? Furthermore, somebody experience with the Mariott hotel near the airport and whether they are girl-friendly? Probably they are, paying a USD 100 per night for a room. . At least it is close to Airforce One en Starfleet. .
BTW, if no Russians are to be found, what would be an Asian destination that does fulfill that 'need'? Jakarta?
Thanks guys for your answers and enjoy your time in Manila!
