If caught a second time, the jail term is more like a year. Furthermore I believe the undercovers don't want to clear the scene (not to lose their jobs) , but they need to justify their existence with results.

Think the ladies need to avoid English guys. Could be bad luck for English punters!

You can see posts back in 2008 discussing this very issue. In reality there is no real attempt to stop the flesh trade in Wan Chai. The plain clothes police are like a a ring fence around the WC bar scene just keeping it under control. If there was a determined effort to wipe out the bar scene it could be done easily through stricter immigration checks, tougher relicensing for bars, frequent raids etc.

A similar thing happens in Singapore. Police tackle the fringes of the industry to keep it with limits acceptable to them (e. G. Orchard Towers) but don't actually try and close it down.

Basically Wan Chai and Orchard towers are part of the economy for thses small city states. The bar girl industry goes hand in hand with the casinos and conferences and tourism. Police actionwill remain an annoyance rather than a major threat as long as these economic factors remain in play. In some countries this get mucked up by other factors (e. G. NGO's in Cambodia) but I don't think this will impact the first world cities.

Just my thoughts.

They are guys who were in the police force pre 1997 and opted to stay on in HK. Its worked for the HK police force to retain a few white faces on the force but these days there arent that many, and most of of a reasonably senior level. I know two of them, who ocassionaly are asked to take part in these "pick ups. The interesting thing is the last time I saw them, they were very happily talking to the ladies in Fenwicks (then) and Laguna (then) in a personal basis with a view to a purchase. Both are English, both middle aged lets say.

While it was crowded, I certainly had no issues finding talent in WanChai. Most of the blokes could not find there own dick as they were so drunk. Nep II was charging 160 cover with 2 drinks, but had a line down the block. Who knows why guys were waiting. Traffic and Forest we're both sparse (I hate that damn lift anyway). New Makati had loads of talent on Sunday night. I had great fortune at Escape plus meeting girls on the street in between bars. I had more approach me, than me them.

A Phili on Friday, Viet on Saturday, and a Phili pair on Sunday for a nice three way with some light G on G action included. All were 7-8+, making it a draining weekend. I had more problems getting a taxi driver to use the meter. But there were a few girls who asked if I was cop. Seems the rumor mill was flying about cops and taxi arrests.

Think there are about 30 or 40 Gwailo's left in the HK Police Service.

Most in senior positions and probably in 10 years it will be a 100% HK Police Service.

I remember at Splash (back in the days when it was Bull and Bear). Go in on a Friday night and there would be 3 tables . One with Police, one with lawyers and one with hookers. They all mingled together and I am certain that deals were done.

And you are right about off-duty Police visiting naughty bars in Wanchai as customers!

And there have been a few cases where their drinks have been SPIKED.

Think a few Indo girls would be happy being caught. They get a month or two in jail. Argue that they should be refugees. So not back to Indonesia. Then are released on two year probation. And then hope they are granted refugee status. This is one of the reason that you have so many Indo girls out night after night.

A serious effort could reduce the number of W / L's, but this would have an economic impact.

Do know that it is more difficult for Filipina's to get regular tourist visa's into HK. Far less in HK than 2 or 3 years ago.

CT[/QUOTE]I fully agree. At OT in Singapore it is not unusual to see a police car in front of the main entrance or a couple of officers inside. Especially in some peak periods.

Even a blind can figure out what is going on, so that police is there for soemthing else: make sure there is no trouble, no foreigner is disturbed and if there is any over drunk guy (as it often happens) , he will be taken care of.

My profound apologies. Pricing was between 1-1. 5 for the one on ones. 2+ hours. 2 pops. For the 2 on 1, it was 2. 5 for 3 hours of fun.

Wel at least in HK if you were caught for overstaying / hooking the jail experience wasnt so bad I hear. In Singapore for those caught the first thing they do is shave the head, and I understand its a 3 month stay.
