Documentary on Bangkok Soapies
Interesting documentary, part of the "Working Girls" Glory series from two years back. Very slick production values, focuses on Hi Class over in Ratchada, and obviously shot in that locale with full approval of the Davis Group.

Pattaya Thailand. Discrimination
Dear members,
I have been planning my trip to Thailand (first Mongering Trip) for sometime now and after a lot of reach have zeroed in on Pattaya. However I have had come across reports about the apparent discrimination (being melted out to people from Indian) regarding the entry / treatment into the bars at Walking Street and other areas.
I wanted to find out if this this practice is prevalent in Pattaya, and if there is really some discrimination which areas should I avoid [From what I read on the Internet, is it so bad that I should cancel my trip? ] I faced no trouble when I was mongering in Cebu last year for 10 days and 3 days in Manila. (Will be planning a trip next year to Cebu again, Red Horse and Mango Avenue will have to wait for sometime.)
Any opinions / thoughts on this will be helpful.
Thanks.
Well well, Racism runs deep in Thailand, and it is even more obvious in the mongering areas, where you maybe denied entry into some establishments.
But BUT BUT as always money rules. And money is the king here in Thailand too, as is everywhere.
Play by the rules and you will enjoy. Flash money, be generous with the girls, mamasans etc and you will be valued (or rather the money in your pocket) , You have something that these chicks and their pimps want badly. But they do not know if you are willing to spend, or even know if you have that kind of money.
So in order to bring down their guard and to NOT stop you at the gate, do your due, wear clean dresses for a start, be clean shaven or well kept, smell well, carry some expensive accessories and be gentle and sweet when talking, and if they are still not convinced, just move on, no need to shout at racists who may have already made up their minds.
Remember, Racism does not just apply to your country, but to many other countries where the skin colour may not be white, So play the game well. There are 100s of establishments who will welcome you (or rather your money)
