Greeting fellow mongers,
I'm sitting in an ice storm in Texas dreaming of my arrival in LOS.Booked my first three days at the Majestic and figured maybe one night at Giotto's then on to Pattaya.Question is would Areca Lodge be a good choice and are they girl friendly?Alternate selection would be Flipper Lodge and I've read reports on the forum for months. Any feedback about trips to Koh Larn island?

I found that one not bad:
- Located 5 minutes ride from Walking Street using public taxi's; however, for the way back you may have to contract a Thb 100 dedicated taxi.
- 2 nice pool; however, during the weekend, the backpool is used by a diving club;
- Large suites (sleeping and living room), very functional; but not really luxurious; bed is kind of hard, and linen simple; nice terrace.
- Simple bathroom and showerhead, could be improved.
- I had 2 TV's showing 24 hours movie channels;
- Very girl-friend, had no problem to bring 2 for my threesomes - despite the presence of some family tourism. Just don't be noisy.
- Located next to a main road, with busy traffic, so try to get a room on the backside;
- Pleasant al fresco restaurant, but food is limited to a all-you-can-eat barbecue buffet; also, the traffic of the road is annoying;
- I referred to Pattaya Pages in order to get a discounted price of Thb 1400. However, they first try to give me a kind of basement room; I gently complained, and the nice receptionist upgraded me at no cost. This is a matter of luck, and you may want to secure at a higher price a good room on the back.
- Very good and friendly service.
As a conclusion, this hotel has good potential. I would just suggest to Management that they renovate some of their best rooms to make them luxury suites by simple improvements like better shower, linen, and general decoration.

What about using a travel agency while there, for getting a better deal than just walking in the hotel? Any experience from the seasoned travellers?
The money saved could be well invested in extra activities. Soi 8 and Soi 13 sounds great.

I booked and I do not have to leave a deposit. Many of the smaller run hotels (many run by expats) will take your reservation and you do not have to pay until you get there. They go on your word of honor that you are coming. I tried the LK Metro but they did not have a room for the period I was interested in. Here are some website you might be interested in checking out:

It was 6 months ago. Sure nothing has changed.
I just spent the last 3 nights at the P-72 Hotel, on Walking St., just past Soi Diamond, directly across from LUCIFERS.
I had stayed there last year and wasn't impressed but I needed a room.
It turned out they have just completed a pretty complete renovation, the rooms are much nicer than before and a bargain at B550 for a smaller room, B650 for a large room. All have 60 channel cable, refrig. and comfortable beds. Lock boxes in lobby. No problems whatsoever with guests.
Most room windows have no view at all. There is currently construction on one side.
Pretty quiet at night considering the location.
The street level restuarant is ok, nothing special.

I have stayed at both Jasmine Mansion and Metro Apartments and both are managed well and good value for money, a balcony or road front room at Jasmine can be a bit noisy so keep that in mind when booking rooms.
Another place of similar standard and price is Cock & Bull in soi LK Metro

This is a map of Pattaya Beach, 2nd/3rd road area, not sure of how reasonable the rates are booking through them but the map with Hotel locations for all these countries makes this a value for world travelers.

This is my first time to Thailand, staying in BKK for 3 nights minimum then heading down to Pattaya. Would like a nice, clean hotel, modern design, great pool, restaurants/bars, releatively close to the action -- willing to spend $100 or under.

Also, top 3 places to go for girls. I'm interested in 3 things (and they don't necessarily have to be at the same place):
1. Quality women.
2. Fun party scene.

I mistakenly posted this in the Pattaya Reports section, not knowing there was a Pattaya Hotels thread as well. I'd like to know if anyone has stayed at the Royal Orchid, across the street from the Dusit Resort. Do you know if the hotel is GF and if they charge any type of joiner fee? I've got good experience in Samui, Phuket and Bangkok, but this will be our first time to Pattaya. Looking for more of a 3-4 star hotel, which is GF, and is close to the action. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the process of scheduling a trip to Pattaya from 5/7/07 - 6/6/07. I don't think I can express my excitement in any coherent way of visiting the LOS. Despite my excitement, one thing weighs very heavy upon my shoulders. It's not something that many people would think of or even notice, but I need to know which hotels are/would be accessible for someone in a wheelchair. As I've been looking over the various hotel recommendations, all I can think of is Stairs to the upper floors.
My questions are: are there hotels with ground level rooms available in many of the hotels near the action? Are there hotels near the action that have elevators? I can only think that hotels that are 7 stories or higher would have an elevator and that seems rare in the neck of the woods I'm looking to hunt in. Are there handi-accesable rooms available in Pattaya?
I know I'm up against the odds here guys, but I'll be damned if I don't find a way through this problem. I've always found a solution to suite my needs no matter how odd or unlikely... After all, I am a little Leprechaun... A horny one at that too and I intend on continuing my “lucky” streak.

Just got back from the best city in the world, and I must admit, i have been hooked to Pattaya after my first visit to LOS.
I have written some reports about Pattaya/Bangkok in the Bangkok Reports thread.
I stayed @ the New Day & Night hotel for 6 days.
Firstly, the hotel staff is extremely rude. You have to practically repeat things 2 times for them to respond.
If given the chance, I'd have slapped the receptionist for demanding a tip whenever I dropped by the lobby.
The rooms/furniture seem a bit new. The pool is okay aswell. Didnt really wake up for breakfast, so cant really comment on that.
And it is girl-friendly. I stayed in the BHT 1200 rooms. But there were rooms that were cheaper as well, but didnt get a chance to have a look at them.
I wouldlnt recommend the hotel for the price that I paid.
Anyhow, since Iam hooked on to Pattaya after my first visit, I have booked another flight on 27th March, which is almost a month away.
Anyhow, after doing some research online, I came across 2 hotels, that I woulld like to stay at.
Since I will be going for 3 weeks this time, it would be best to find a hotel with rates close to BHT1000.
I have narrowed down my choices to Acrea Lodge & LK Mansion.
Acrea Lodge has rooms for BHT 1000, where as LK Mansion has rooms for BHT 600-800.
From what I have read here, Acrea Lodge seems impressive.

From their website, the rooms look very promising, but some personal opinions from the members here would help me make a decision.
I could care less about the swimming pool the hotel offers or the breakfast offered. All I care about is the room where all the action actually happens.
I would really appreciate it if some members could enlighten me on the LK Mansion.
