Phopd? Your writng on the BKK report section says no govt. Spending will creat private jobs with out destroying others jobs. Really? Maybe we should ask the people in the towns where military bases or industrial production plants once existed. Howabout the space coast that existed in Florida. Didn't govt spending spending creat the 7-11 and other places of business that now are gone because the space industry shut down? Pleas let us know where the jobs are that were destroyed.

Unemployent does not create jobs. ? Really, again. Maybe not in the sence that new business will pop up all over the place. Still if the unemployed don't get money to help out watch the total employment go down in the area. No money to spend means you don't buy much. Thus less people needed to service those still around. Its the correct balance you need to make it work correctly.

Yea, I think protest related stuff is appropriate for the forum, but this is the right thread for it.

I don't know if it was on ISG or somewhere else I read a report that some poor farang was wearing a red or yellow t-shirt and got beat up for doing so. Crazy, but there's no shortage of craziness in the world.

I read in Stickman's post today about the protests that pretty ladies trying to pass through the Asoke protest area are getting hassled.

I've got a feeling over the next couple of days Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy will pick up. The ladies need to eat too. I wonder, are the clubs that can be gotten too relatively easily packed with out of work gogo girls?

If I had the time and a ticket to Bangkok leaving tomorrow I'd go, no hesitation. Things could turn a bit ugly, but I think it's a small risk. If they did, it's a short trip to Pattaya.

As much as there is people living on the ground, unless hidden, there is no real political analyst on insider to forecast the future in such a way and in such a projection.

But it is nonsense to base a trip 8 weeks ahead based on "forecast" for from here. Some could be emotions, some could be anti- protesters, some might be in favour, some transmits their political ideas in telling the future, maybe his wish.

I've actually decided that since I am not a mystic or a guru, I am going to stay in Singapore and enjoy Geylang. Damn, I was really looking forward to this trip, but the stability right now and the fact that things could take a turn for the worse at any moment make it not worth it IMHO. Live to bonk another day and all that.

I was all scheduled to visit Jakarta for the first time in October 2012 and changed plans at the last moment due to Benghazi and some discomfort I was feeling about the BS small scale Muslim protests in Jakarta. It turned out I need not have skipped Jakarta, but on the other hand, I had a great time in Subic instead. I will be heading to Jakarta at long last to finally give it a try and I am looking forward to it now more than ever. The moral to my story is even though I think BKK is still real do able right now and I personally would not cancel my trip, my opinion should have no affect on your decision. There will always be another time to visit BKK. Missing it now will make you enjoy it even more when you finally come. No pun intended. Have fun in Geylang. It is not BKK, but I like it a lot. And the food in Singapore is really good too.

I wrestled with this decision a lot, and you are probably correct that it is nothing. I've been in Kuwait, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico during times of unrest and survived. My main deciding factor was the news that Cowboy and Nana are dead! That was the tipping point. And yes, the food is good here.

No Protests whatsoever. Walking Street is 10x larger than Cowboy. LK metro is the up and coming Go Go neighborhood. Soi 6, Soi Honey, beer complexes galore, the coconut bar, and the dark side, ect, ect. Something to think about. But then Batam is fun. There is no wrong move. Have a great time.

I heard that there is a mob at Thonglor BTS Soi 55 (Nth side) or Soi 38 (sth) , so my taxi going from Soi 20 to On-Nut took a detour down Soi 26 to Rama IV, and back to Sukhumvit once past Thonglor. Sukhumvit has low traffic.

I imagine that people staying in Sukhumvit Sois 2 to 11 should be okay getting access by taxi to and from the expressway. I haven't looked there though. I think closer to Soi 19 would be less desirable.

1. Is the airport to and fro traffic taking much longer than usual? If yes if one has flight at 11 am what time to leave from sukhumvit, staying in grand president.

Best way to travel at that time? Taxi or mrt or what?

2. Are the shopping centres open? Like platinum or mbk?

3. Are the naughty areas still up?

4. Nightlife still on? Climax etc?

Read many reports didn't get answers for these, kindly help if you may any resident of Bangkok

Take the MRT from the airport to Phaya Thai station, then on BTS to Nana and walk down Soi 11 to GP.

I had booked flight and hotel for a trip Jan end, but now thinking of dropping it. There were reports of shooting and bombs last night, though no one was killed, can't really predict when it might get out of hand. Was thinking of heading to Patts but now unsure of that too. Had waited so long for this trip.

In the past I have always got a metered taxi first shot to the airport but yesterday morning was more difficult. The first two would not take me, second quoted me an unacceptable 500 baht and went with the fourth who quoted me 300 baht. Went by a couple of points with heavy police presence on the way to DMK.

Two days ago my girlfriend was coming to see me on BTS when some foreigner showed her his fully erect penis. If you are a pervert, at least have some class. Wish they had death penalty for this behavior instead of a $5 fine.

Pattaya is out of question as too much depending on BKK airport.

As an alternative country I would vote for Philippines, the next to Thailand for mongering, even if I have never bene there, st similar price levels.
