Simon, look down a few posts and you will see a number to a taxi dude, another monger contacted him and I am anxious to hear your experiences with him. I firmly believe in positive reinforcement and rewarding taxi dudes who treat fellow mongers well.

Oh apart from- what Jao said, I would definitely look into taking a Spanish course at the local uni, or traveling to other parts in the DR since you will be there over a month. Don't worry about the bad luck, trust me I get it on most trips then I usually strike gold. Do remember you are staying in a tourist area, in Zona colonial, these chicas see dudes from all parts of the globe on a daily basis. I too am familiar with Colombia and it depends where you've been. The European looking chicas are mostly from Medellin, the calenas have tanned skins, black hair and nice bodies, you will see the darker chicas in Cartegena. Colombia has a total pop of nearly 50 million vs 9 or 10 million for DR.

Still you should find what you're looking for in DR, just not in the abundance you have been used to coming from a larger country.

Sadly, the chicas themselves do not hold a candle to the woman in Colombia. I don't think that is a negative comment towards the Dominican chicas as much as it is a positive one for the woman in Colombia. They are truly the most beautiful women I have ever seen. The Dominican Chicas are still 10 fold more attractive then the women in Canada. Again, I don't this is a positive statement towards the Dominican chicas as much as it is a negative one towards the Canadian women.

I have spent some time in the gym here in zona colonial. In all honesty it was my favourite place to go in Medellin. The mental pictures I have from riding the stationary bikes behind the women on the stairmasters have kept me warm on many a cold Canadian night. Seriously. That's not to say there weren't any pretty Dominicans in yoga pants at the gym in SD. Again still way better than Canada.

The Domincan chicas definitely don't seem to fawn over foreigners like they do in PI, and to a lesser extent in Colombia. Blond hair and blue eyes don't seem to go very far here. In SD for 2 days slept with two women 8 sessions. I am enjoying my self. First night my novia high jacked me at the airport and took me to her place. Talk to the girl, get a number ask her to go out for a drink or to show you around when she's available. My advice, do what I do, look for a good looking girl in a shop, beauty parlor or centro de unas, chat her up, ask her if she has a boyfriend, if she say's no (most likely lying) , she's interested.
