I posted this news story several days ago which indicates there is heightened scrutiny at MDE. Regarding phones specifically, I've only seen people talking about it on social media but I haven't seen anything specific from the government. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_C_qotp294.
Like I said, I know I am being a bit paranoid. That being said, I cancelled my trip. I don't feel like sweating that bullshit when its easy to just book a different spot. If Colombia was the only option, I would def still risk it, but too many other places to choose Colombia right now.
Sucks, feels like the day of the monger king mega weekend trips to Medellin may be coming to an end. I posted the same question in the Sosua forum, if Medellin dies down, where will the next hot spot be? I think Cuba needs to get with the free world and open up and turn Havana into the next Medellin.
I think for this trip I am going to follow the trail of TomJackin and check out El Salvador. Seems like a safe alternative.
It's not entirely clear whether the passengers who were denied were for associations with CP / SA along with the suspicious luggage or whether some were denied ONLY for suspicious luggage. I don't pack anything crazy, but that pic in the video the other day looked like mostly condoms & lube which doesn't seem outlandish -- I definitely pack a bunch of condoms at the very least and usually lube. (Pic is screenshot from the video, not my luggage).
Decided to head downtown today, as I haven't been down there during the week in several months. Stopped in a couple of casas as well as went around the church. Saw a couple on the street that I would do. When checking out the casas, saw a really cute girl with a thick body so I decided to pull the trigger. Cost has gone up to 80,000 for a half half hour since my last visit. It was worth it as the girl had a sweet personality and the sex was good as well as an unexpected BBBJ. I didn't take any pics but I did capture a couple while I was getting dressed and she was in the shower. I got a bunch of cards but threw them away. I did find one in my pocket when I got home so I took a pic. No rain today. The weather is pretty nice.

Playing victim card.
Yup. There's probably a bit of truth to the story, but the guy is likely leaving some key facts out.
Yes, it is all over Colombian news that Colombian Immigration is looking for people engaged in sexual tourism and trafficking.

In this article, it highlights an 80 year old American (with no criminal history or negative information in various systems) was denied entry after his luggage was searched and he was interviewed but did not give information about his tourism plans. The article states: It turns out that this foreigner brought in his suitcase a whole arsenal of toys and sexual articles, from condoms, lubricants and gels, to whips, handcuffs, dildos and vibrators. "During the immigration interview, the foreigner did not provide clear answers about the purpose of his visit. After a baggage inspection, with the support of the Police, elements were found that allowed to determine that he intended to enter for the purpose of sexual exploitation," they added from the Migration social networks.
I then went to the X / Twitter account of Colombian Immigration which confirmed the story. I attached a screenshot from the X account.
Have tourism plans. Pack discretely. Plan for searches of luggage, electronics, etc.
I admit, your version is much more comical, but the article says 80 foreigners have been denied entry, not that an 80 year old brought a suitcase full of perversion.
I admit, your version is much more comical, but the article says 80 foreigners have been denied entry, not that an 80 year old brought a suitcase full of perversion.
The article talked about a specific individual, as well as mentioning the 80 foreigners denied entry. The specific individual appears to have had previous convictions in the US or elsewhere, and so would have been identified through cooperation with external consultation. Interpol or US authorities.

Not going back to MDE again. Was there a week ago, got pulled out and let's just say the search was super intrusive. I was in the clear but not a pleasant experience and I will just say I will take my dollars to places that are more visitor friendly.

Is it necessary to always contact the Airbnb host about their guest policy before booking? Someone here said to search the reviews for "guest policy" or "security", but that did not work for any of the listings I was looking at. If they list this as their policy, is it not reasonable to assume guests are fine:
Guest access
-The whole apartment and the communal amenities are available to all guests.
Entry Requirements:
-All guests and visitors must present original ID at reception.
Trying to book something last minute so would prefer to avoid contacting all the hosts and waiting for responses. Plus is it not sometimes an "ask for forgiveness not permission" situation when it comes to inviting 2-3 guests in a day and drawing attention?
Doesn't sound good.
Why is this no where else or from other people? In any case have not heard anything like this in Bogotá and I have met about 10+ ISG guys in last couple months.

2 foreigners alleged to be sex predators. If I had this much sex toys in my suitcase I would be a predator. They should have said they were gay and the toys were to be used on each other!

Would really help out us who plan to travel to Colombia once this shit blows over. Not going to lie, Parque Lleras is a hell of a time and not many places like it outside Colombia.
