The truth about negotiating in the DR is that once you speak the language and do not act like a tourista and you are genuine and nice with a little sence opf humor and a dont take me for a ride attitude (normally refered to as "Tigre") the price drops by 50%. I have noticed that. I have been there enough times to know.
I just came back from 3 weeks in the DR and will be going back there again in another 2 weeks.
Anyone interested in staying in an apartment /resort (chica friendly) between Cabarete and Sosua from March 17,2007 and March 24,2007. One bedroom, Kitchen,bath,pullout bed for your guest and many other amenities. I double booked two apartments when I only needed one. I speak fluent spanish. $250 dollars for the week.

That is a normal bride to a security guard when the chica, 18 to 35, does not have docs. Which is common! What the chica is paid is negotiated between us. And is a lot more than 100 pesos!

I don't ask for ID and I don't bribe security guards either. If she's hot, looks legal, and she's selling herself, I am going to take her to my hotel and tap that ass!
Nevertheless, last month I was happy when "My Spinner" voluntarily took out her ID to show me. I'm glad that she didn't try to make me look like a fool or a liar.

If they don't have their papers then they need to go to Santo Domingo and pay a lawyer in order to get their cedula.
Its not cheap.

I'm heading to Dominican after 8 years whoring in Asia. By reading the posts seems like Sosua is the place (will be there for 10 days in March for the first time).

The majority of haitians and many of haitian ancestry born in the DR do not have cedulas or any documents. A significant number of dominicans over 18 don't have them either. Getting a cedula depends on having a valid birth certificate and many of these people don't have one.It's not just a matter of getting a replacement (which isn't easy). They never had one. There was a recent scandal involving issuing false birth certificates to get cedulas and payments were quite high - in the hundreds to thousands of dollars per certificate range. I've talked to haitian chicas who not only don't have a cedula or birth certificate but actually don't know their birthday or exactly how old they are. One of these chicas had a daughter who was a teenager and was unquestionably an adult of normal intelligence. She knew her age within a year or two in relation to her siblings but nobody tracked birthdays when she was a child and she just didn't know.
