After 9/11 they don't issue in HK anymore (unless absolute emergency and then its only a temp anyway).
Its all done in the US.

Hey Fast Eddie,
I got mine done last November (2006). Took five days (including a weekend) to get it back.
1/ Make an appointment online here: http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/acs_appointment.html
2/ Make sure you have the correct passport pictures!! You can specifiy the size at any instant passport photo shop. Tell them that you need pictures for a US passport and take the dimensions along with you.
3/ Fill out the form online and have a computer generated form, or print it out. I did mine online.
4/ Go to the consulate at the time of your appointment with your current passport, pay the cashier and wait 15 minutes or so for them to call your name and take your application. A local clerk takes the application, checks to make sure that all the boxes are filled in, and asks you to wait. I left my emergency contact information blank (I always do) and the clerk asked me to fill it in (it is not required). I just told her that there was no one to contact which left her a bit flustered. I was very tempted to put Mr. Po Tus, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington, DC 20500, phone 202 456 1414, but thought that the irony would be lost on her.
5/ The fee is US$97. Payable by cash or credit card. See http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/acs_passports3.html
6/ Wait another 10 minutes and a FSO comes out to tell you ok, no problem, go downstairs and pay your HK$25 for postage to the HK Post outlet. The FSO will cancel your current passport, so you are stuck in HK for four to seven days.
7/ Go home and wait.
There is also a FAQ page at http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/acs_passports7.html
My passport showed up exactly five calendar days later.
Yes, the passport is processed in the US, but it is nice to apply for one overseas--you get it back much faster.
Cheers,
BD

Not true.
For instance, if your passport was stolen or lost, they must get you a replacement.
Now, having said that, the embassy can be complete assholes about the whole thing. My wife had problem - she is Chinese and got treated like shit at AIT Taiwan. I called my classmate, #2 guy in HK who then called the #2 guy in Taiwan to get it solved. I then on next business trip, went to AIT to meet their #2 guy and make sure it never happens again for any non-caucasian US citizen! He basically ripped into his local staff as well as filipino bitches (you know the type, the ones that speak/write good english and think they're god's gift to the world).
It's always good to both register your passport on-line plus carry a photocopy with you when traveling.
Guys,
I saw Ho Yee of 141 in Sheung Wan, http://******.com/en/viewid.php?uid=8518®ion=17&building=-1&territory=-1&age=-1&bsize=-1&height=-1&service=-1&nationality=&stype=-1&keyword=
She was very enthusiastic, bubbly and welcoming. She DFK me almost as soon as I came in. She helped me undress and as soon as my pants were off she started in with the BBBJ. She had a very nice tongue technique.
She sucked me a while in the shower too. Afterward we retired to the bed. The only problem with this room is it was tiny even by 141 standards. The room was about as wide as a queen size bed and a twin bed was pushed up against the wall. Anyway, she BBBJ me for a while, I DATY as is my habit, then mounted her while standing. We did mish, doggy, CG, reverse CG, then more mish, then more doggy, and I started rubbing her asshole with my finger. She said yeah let's do it, and lubed up her asshole without me even saying anything. So I plunged it into her ass and pounded away. She was a real trooper. Nice and tight and I came up her ass after about 5 more minutes.
Damage $380. Very nice girl. Well worth a visit.
Have fun and stay safe!

I assume you are US and know how to read. How is what I said not true? I did say, only in emergency and they will only issue you a TEMPORARY passport. I already know 2 people who had this happen to in the past 6 months.
The permanent US passports are ONLY issued in the US. They used to be issued in foreign lands. Now the HK consulate (its not an embassy) has to send the application to the US to be processed.
Here is directly from the horses mouth
Notice is says "must be replaced by a full-validity passport printed in the U.S."
http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/acs_passports5.html
"Urgent Cases
We work on replacement passports only during regular business hours, except in the case of clear, documented, life-or-death emergencies, such as the death of a close family member in the U.S. Otherwise, no weekend or after-hours assistance is available.
In such unambiguous, extraordinary and fully documented emergencies, emergency passports can be issued the same day. Such passports issued abroad are valid for no more than 12 months (and may be issued with much shorter periods of validity), and must be replaced by a full-validity passport printed in the U.S. You must return the limited validity emergency passport to obtain a full validity (5 or 10 years validity) passport."
I was in a bad mood and might have come off angry at you.
My apologizes. We are arguing over semantics.
I was trying to make the point that US passports are no longer ISSUED in HK (or overseas) anymore.
Of course, you can go to the HK office and they will arrange for you. In the past they were able to do it directly in the office but no longer. So it takes more time in shipping back and forth these days.
I'm HK based and have a few days off coming up. What do you think is the best place for a quick getaway? I've had my fill of HK and SZ action for now (as you can probably tell from my reports), so I'm looking for something new that is hopefully alot cheaper. I've heard that Thailand is around $50-$60 USD? Thats the same price in HK. How about the Philippines? I've considered going back to SZ but there just doesnt seem much to do there (out of bed, that is Looking for good looking girls on the cheap that might be able to spend a few days keeping me company. Any suggestions?
Certainly Phnom Penh and Manila/Angels will entertain. I am also based in HK so let me know if you want to get together to swap ideas.
I have the choice of spending a weekend in Shanghai or Hong Kong...for mongering which is better? I have been to HK and know of Fenwicks and similar places but have no experience in Shanghai.
thanks

thanks
To lust,
I think Hong kong is easier for you if you don't speak mandarin , Shanghai is a much larger city but quality of the girl is better and much cheaper if you know where to go , read the shanghai area post and study hard .
