The most obvious solutions to the oil price is "Stop using oil" for cars. Its not like there is no alternative available. Even if the alternative is a bit more expensive its far cheaper than going to war and it hurts Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq Venezuela and all the other despot oil states. Its also better for health, its better for the environment, it just makes sense!

Why does it not happen then? Because 40% of the population would prefer to slice off their noses to spite their face than do what makes sense.

" If we had only been drilling as long as Repubs had been begging us to do that and only that and at their desired level, USA reserves might have hit bottom years ago and we'd have been importing 100% of the oil we need today. Maybe 80% of it from Russia by now instead of about 7% or less.

Here's a suggestion for anyone crying over the cost of a gallon of gas that is less today than it was under 2 Repubs ago.

Can't walk? Buy an electric vehicle. How about an electric motorbike for things you need to do around town, shopping, dining out, running errands, even commuting to and from work if you work within a reasonable distance.

One of the EV promoting ideas floated by Biden was giving a $900 tax credit for the purchase of an electric bike or motorbike. Look for Know Nothing, Do Nothing Repubs to trash that idea and vote against it.

I have an electric motorbike that costs almost exactly $900 USD including a spare portable battery that easily pops out and I charge it in my apartment, swap it out for the other fully charged battery in a snap anytime. Charge time from zero to full is about 6-7 hours. Do it overnight. With a spare battery ready to be swapped, there is virtually no down time. Swapping out my battery takes less time than refueling in a gas station.

With or without a passenger, I cruise all over Bangkok on it. Cool as fuck. I can split traffic lanes, zip through and around traffic jams better than seasoned motorbike taxi drivers.

If it takes a regular auto taxi or you in your car 45-60 minutes to go somewhere in the city, I can probably do it comfortably and without breaking any traffic laws in 10-15 minutes.

After the low cost of purchase, the "fuel" costs, the cost in electricity, runs about 30 cents per week or less. You read that right. About $0. 30 USD per week. I don't even notice an increase in my monthly electric bill.

I get about 45 miles on a full battery charge, a full charge costs me about 3 THB and between these two batteries I fully charge a battery approximately three times a week.

I bought a $10 tire pump and I have absolutely no reason to go into a gas station unless it's to use their toilet or buy a Thai Milk Tea. I don't even know or care how much a litre of gasoline costs around here.

Repubs have fought tooth and nail to prevent the ease, convenience, fun and dirt cheap energy / fuel costs I am enjoying from being a well understood and appreciated option in the USA since forever.
