I've had this happen to me while in Colombia. They use it as an extortion tactic by threatening to post all over social media my photo that I am in Colombia for working girls and unless I pay them some ransom money they will continue to post online. I sent them a better photo of myself and told them to have fun. I am a single man and have zero shame in the game. Nothing else ever came of it. They did text me from many different numbers with most being from Colombia but also some from Venezuela and DR.
Yikes!
Yeah I didn't get extorted more so as I know I had my photo / number put into a group somewheee.
I imagine after a bit of time.
It will get lost in the sauce but still I'the love to know where exactly.
It's being posted. Like a private tele or WhatsApp.
Group or is there some forum out there we don't know about.
I also didn't let it scare me but I was just surprised this is a new thing I have to be aware of.

If this info gets out SDs will not believe in seeking. This business model for SA is too lucrative to let go, I'm sure they will help you out in some way.
Good point. We're getting screwed all the way around. Flights are also increasingly more expensive.
Add in the new 23% increase in minimum wage and everything will go up by 30% or more because businesses aren't going to absorb that and it also gives them an excuse to charge more than the increase because generally Colombian business people are a greedy lot. Taxi, metro, and bus fares went up today also. It definitely will ding my wallet but I'm not going anywhere, Colombia is my home.

Transport fares go up every year on January 1. The minimum wage increase is a tempest in a teapot. Minimum wage earners here are typically up to their eyeballs in debt at interest rates way beyond what anyone can imagine in North America. Gringos aren't going to notice much of it. The airport bus is 20,000 now, up from 17,000 for example. That's not going to break anyone's budget who can afford an airline ticket.
When you ask a girl how much and she gives you a high price, that is just an opening bid. You don't have to just walk away. You can offer what you want to pay and then negotiate a price that is more acceptable to you that the girl is willing to take. It is just a game. The more the girl has invested in you by chatting with you, the more she might be willing to accept a lower price. You can also negotiate what you would want the girl to do and how long you want her to stay. Opening bid is not the final price and it might be much lower than that. Or you can be the first to offer a price and She can negotiate up from that.
Agreed. Historically in these situations I've offered half and settled on slightly over that. It still may be too much in this case, but then I also ask not to be rushed and for more time.

Calasanz
I got an Air BNB in the Calasanz neighborhood for my upcoming trip. Does anyone have any recommendations in that area? I've been to Energy before, and I suppose that's in walking distance. Just curious if anyone knew of anything good close by. Thanks.

It would be a long walk. You can get a quick and inexpensive uber or didi.

Unable to use Airbnb. Any other apps good for Medellin. Is San peters still a good spot in Laureles. They didn't allow threesomes when I was there. Options for apartment or chica friendly hotel rentals needed. 12 day trip.

You may get more responses if you posted the question in the Medellin Hotels and Rental Apartments section.

Booking.com or expedia are options. Many Airbnb properties also list there. I think you can also set up a new Airbnb profile if you have a different credit card to use.

The negative part of San Peter is the noise from the nearby discos, bring earplugs.

Stayed there a month
Is the same guy managing the place. I had a direct number but its been 4 years since then. Not sure, name is Joe.

In that conversation, she just asked for a selfie. 'theéjame verte todo un selfie' does not mean naked selfie. Am I wrong?
Anyway, it is always a good idea to listen to your inner scammer alert, radar, and it does not have to have a rational reason. Listening to your gut is the way to go. I know of a married friend who thought a video call would be safer, but they recorded the video call and threatened him later. Nothing bad came out of it for him, but it is a nuisance.
