I think you can get used to anything. That said, it's hard for me to understand how anyone manages to sleep withing two streets of la 70. Medellin is generally pretty noisy but that area takes it to another whole level.

According to the Migración Colombia web site "Migración Colombia may grant extensions of stay to foreigners whose nationality does not require a visa and who intend to extend their stay, having used an Entry and Stay Permit (PIP), without this exceeding one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days (continuous or discontinuous) within the same calendar year". This is also contrary to another poster who said it is any 365 period, not a calendar year. Either way, it comes down to what the immigration agent wants to do.

Even with soundproof windows, the noise can be disturbing. Laureles has some very noisy areas. Anywhere near Estadio can be noisy when there ia a concert, futbol game, or other event. Also, around the 2 parks can be noisy, especially on the weekends and holidays. Colombians tolerate loud noise much better than Americans, IMO. With so many options in Medellin there is no reason to stay in an area that you know will have excessive noise. The touristy areas in Laureles tend to be noisy. That being said, you can find quiet streets, if you know where to look and what to look for. Also, if you are booking an Airbnb, read the reviews because sometimes people will be honest about the negatives of a location.

On my first visit I stayed at an Airbnb with no reception, just a private apartment in Manila. I really enjoyed the privacy, and the quiet location. Chicas came, chicas went, no questions.

1. With the whole scopolamine thing, is it really so prevalent and risky to justify staying someplace with a front desk that checks the girl's ID?

2. Does getting the woman's ID actually make you safer?

3. Or is checking your chica in at reception really not a big deal and I just need to get over it? Do the chica's mind?

But as long as your host is ok with the visitors, don't worry about the front desk. They've seen it all before. The guards are typically guys, so the only judgement you're going to get is an evaluation of your taste in chicas.

With no pesos, what is my strategy. Questions. Do I get cambio at the airport? Do airport taxis take credit card? Laureles best choices: Western union, centro mall, ATM? I like Brazil where you could pay chicks with credit card. Is that the case with casas, strip clubs? Advice appreciated.

Some hosts do care about having chicas over but it is mainly women hosts who care about it.

With that said, I'd only to a no security Airbnb if I plan on just using getting my nut then kicking them out. If you plan on casually hanging with them in the apartment and eating / drinking in their presence, just get a place with security in El Poblado. I had a place with a sign at reception saying no prostitution and still had women coming and going. They don't care for the most part as long as you're not causing distractions.

I'd just pay the taxi from the airport with cash. When you get to the city, just visit a Banco Colombia ATM and take out pesos.

A some of the girls online do take cards and they'll explicitly state it. Many of them take online transfers with whatever app they use. Casas seem to all take credit though you have to ask.

With that said it's a lot easier to scam with cards so I'd stick to pesos.

I have always wondered why some guys are willing to spend up to $1,000 a month on rent, yet complain about spending $40 or $50 per session with a girl. It's something I've never understood. You would be surprised how many men I meet who will drop a grand on a luxury apartment in Medellin just to impress people, but then nickel-and-dime when it comes to actual dates or sessions. It completely blindsides me.

One of the biggest lessons I learned from my travels is that no matter where you live in Medellin, you're always within a stone's throw of where you need to be. Whether you're in Poblado, Aranjuez, or Centro, you're still in the same city. Nowhere is so far that you can't get there in a 5 to 15-minute taxi ride. To me, excessive spending on luxury apartments just to impress girls has always been a waste of income. While I always prioritize safety and security, that doesn't mean I need to pay triple the rent to impress someone I might only see once or twice a month. Stay safe and stay alert, PN.

Only restaurants and shopping in malls. ATM's are your highest exchange rates. Don't exchange cash at airport. Definitely chicas & cases cash only.
