I'm going to be in town Sept 15-18, and I'm interested in fishing, but I don't have a group for a charter as I'm visiting alone. Is anyone interested in getting a group together? For this / mongering join up?

I have been to San Jose and had the Del Rey experience "many times" over. I was thinking about heading to Jaco and spend a little time at Hotel Cocal this weekend (Oct 13-5). I was wondering whether the scene has changed in the last few months or so. I was there back in February of this year and it was pretty good. The Del Rey has gone down a little bit from what I hear from a few of my other buddies. So I was looking for a little insight.

Whatever Airbnb was asking we lowered and didn't get at the best price I wanted but still a good rate. It was a group of us and most guys just picked up from Casino each day. I went on Seeking Arrangement and got a girl to come down for from San Jose. $100 per day and taxi ride down. She stayed with me for a few days. The rate was around $100 for the girl from the casino for a few hours.
Weather was good rained each day but only for a little bit.

Hey guys,
Quick question. Does Hotel Cocal charge you to bring a girl up to the room, like at HDR? On the website, there is that $15 "fee" for a "guest" that isn't quite clear.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance!
I was there a few weeks back. Booked a single occupancy room and had no issues bringing multiple girls back to my room. They did have to check in with security before they went inside my room. Had a great time there. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
Hi guys,
I've got a trip to Jaco coming up. When I travel outside the USA, I usually like to change money instead of using an ATM card.
Any heads up advice about where to change money in Jaco. Are there casa de cambios or banks around town? ARe they open on Saturday?
Thanks in advance!
I usually like to change money instead of using an ATM card.
Why is that?
Why is that?
I have been the victim of ATM pin card fraud in the past. Any type of pin, identity theft or electronic theft has got to be harder to make claims for overseas. Can you imagine trying to call some bank in a foreign country after you have gotten home, and you don't speak the language? Bank of Costa Rica customer service? I don't think so.
That on top of the threat of being robbed at ATMs (in some countries, not necessarily CR). I'll use a credit card overseas before an ATM card. Credit card companies are good about reimbursing you for security losses. But with an ATM card, they have direct access to your bank account. In my mind, not worth the risk.
Just easier to work in cash. Also helps me keep track of how much I am spending better.
Anybody have any contact intel or seen Nati lately at the CoCal?
El Mechanico.
Hi guys,
A few questions, I'm planning a trip on December 17th - 24th.
I've heard this is a down / slow time. Is that accurate? When does it get slow exactly? Will I have a few days to enjoy myself?
Also, the last and only time I was in CR I was lucky enough to go with a friend of a friend who knew the owners of the Bookmaker offshore sportsbook. We were taken care of big time. Huge house, car with driver / bodyguard, personal cook etc etc, I'm not so lucky this time and will be e on my own. I have read through the last 5-6 pages going back to 2015 but still have a few questions.
I like the beach / water but I understand Jaco is a lot more expensive, is this still the case? What are the "normal" rates at Jaco vs SJ? My previous trip I spent in Jaco and just drove through SJ so I am unfamiliar with SJ. I'm thinking of splitting my time between Jaco and SJ. Thoughts on this?
Also in SJ, what are the massage parlors like? Is FS available?
Are there strip clubs? Do you pay a bar fee for take out or do they have rooms there? Assuming you can play in strip clubs.
Last question is Edwardo49 a tour guide or just a member of the forum?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
Thinking about a trip to Jaco in mid-Janiuary, but Cocal is booked. Was wondering whether the Del Rey owned South Beach hotel is a good alternative and close to the action? Just want something on the beach that is girl friendly.
