More research in raunchier cafes con piernas near Franklin & San Diego streets
Building on some previous research about raunchier cafes con piernas in an area without many tourists. I traveled again to the cafes on San Diego street just north of the Franklin St. Intersection. It's easy to get to (just take the Metro to the Franklin stop, cross the park and head north, toward downtown, on San Diego street). A good reason to be in this area would be to check out the Persa Bio-Bio (big weekend market) on Saturday and Sunday. Truly massive in size and what's on offer, and just to the east.
I dug a bit deeper into Espectaculos Sexy Woman, the one strip club on the west side of San Diego. It's 2. 5 K pesos to get in, and for that you get a small cup of Coke. The main room has a small stage that only occasionally has a dancer, and maybe 8-12 women sitting around on benches. Taking my own previous advice, I didn't take the pushier ones that approached and eventually was left alone to survey things. The girls were maybe 3-7 in looks and looked a bit hard, as you might expect for the kind of work it was. They were all trying to get customers into a second, darker room for a nude lap dance (5 K) and hard sell for the third room for the sexo (25 K). I picked one of the quieter ones and it was a good choice. There was a wait to get in the third room (during which she did more lap dances, a good sign), and the room was surprisingly just a well-lit and cramped space maybe the size of a closet with a padded bench in it. A ¨back room¨in Chile isn´t the same as one in Thailand! You could only manage two positions in such a space, and of course it was hurried. The girl did a CBJ (fine to use my raincoat) and both the modified cowgirl positions, but if you're north of 40 you may need more stimulation to empty the clip and so many places in South America don't seem to take this into account. To her credit she finished the job manually, even after some pounding on the door by the manager.
So it was about as good as the quickie backroom experience could get in a place like that with the main advantage being price. And being able to say you did something like many of the locals do.
Went back to the area on a Tuesday with all places open, though 5 pm -ish isn't the best time to go. No upside to guys outnumbering girls. Crowds would thin out, though. Most places had only 2-3 girls. Didn't see anything I really liked at the cafe next to Espectaculos on the right. Wasn't really looking for FS like before, just maybe some playing around. Eros, on the left, had the best lookers that day. As has been described elsewhere, a customer drink, like a cafe cortado, will be 1. 5-2 K (cheaper than Starbucks) and might be actually pretty good. The girl's drink will be 2 K and will be a tiny glass with water or juice that she can drink easily in 2-3 gulps (and you'll be amazed how fast it'll be downed). Buy that drink and she'll sit next to you on your side of the bar. Otherwise she'll stay on the other side of the bar and might not even pay attention to you. At least some rudimentary Spanish helps for small talk.
Besides pretty good coffee for $2. 75-3. 75, the attraction of this sort of thing is that, at best and with the right girl, it's like a lap dance in the USA Where you can touch, with the 2 K drinks needing re-upping every so often and the better girls allowing for more view or touching in more places with each additional 2 K drink. Most also do the lap grinds. That's the baseline experience.
A few places have upsells. First the bad: Jamaica Cafe, a hit and miss spot on the east side of San Diego. Had dropped in before and sat with a playful Dominican girl for 2 drinks, but this time it was a much larger, very Rubenesque and pushy girl that headed out to me. I should have seen the red flag when she essentially self-ordered the first drink, but I gave her too much patience. She would guide hands around strategically to boobs (the one good feature she had) and summoned me over to a corner that wasn't really marked or anything and started to do the pull and even pulled it out, then did some dry-humping. Looks-wise she was maybe 4-5. Some of the play was a bit rough and I didn't want to end up chafed. When I called for the bill it was 19.5 K, with only 10 K as drinks I had counted and the rest other charges (like 5 K for the raunchier dancing and 5 K undisclosed to use a private area that really wasn't). Felt too close to bill-padding and a ripoff, or at least out of line with the norm. The other 2 girls there (7 each in looks) hadn't done that, so some of it was due to the girl, but management also puts up with it when they shouldn't. Not recommended and won't return to that one. Also didn't check out Caliente because of a less-than-ideal experience last time.
Cafe Blue was a little too cramped and with only 2 chicas (best was a 6, but friendly), but they had the best coffee. Cafe Las Diablas had 4 girls, with 2 of them real cuties (7-8 level). I got a tall, slim one of 22 with a few tattoos and bangs who was good with the closeness and touchy-feely at the bar. The place had an upsell: 2 dances in the back at 10 K total (maybe US $18.50). The girl pressed the right buttons and I decided to give it a try. Another bench and another small, lit space. You might also be able to get FS.
Finally I checked out Friends 2 on Franklin St. Just west of San Diego. Spiffier interior, 2 girls, usual deal on drinks and lady drinks. Got maybe a 6. 5 girl of 19 with a big nose. Their upsell is 2 dances for 5. 4 K, and the private room is at least better appointed and even has a separate video display with its own songs separate from the house's. The dance, though, is clothed and only occasionally frictional, resembling the air dances many USA Cities have except without enforcement of strict rules like no touching the dancers. Las Diablas was way hotter.
So it's generally hit and miss, but I was the only gringo customer around and locals already knew their favorite bars and girls, so they didn't have to spend on research like I did. It can be good fun during the afternoon or after a trip to the Persa Bio-Bio, but for FS the options are very limited and it can't realistically substitute for agencies or the more expensive mainstream options. OTOH it's more hands-on than the downtown places, and can be a good deal with the right place and girl. Am sure there must be other areas like that around non-touristy (but still safe) parts of the city.
Dog days of summer in Santiago
I was in Santiago again yesterday and it was hot, say 35 see (95 F).
