I already did a Web check, and know that the festival is suppose to end on the 15th. However, when I was in Pattaya in December and making plans for the April trip, I was told that the Songkran activities might consist throughout the weekend; 16th. 17th, and so on.
I was hoping for some insight from people with "boots on the ground."

Especially for night shots as the flash was functional. A plastic bag 'camera cover' doesn't work for more than a few dousings and will leak. You will also have to deal with talcum powder and paste, that you can rinse off a waterproof case.
ok, so another bar in soi 6 has converted to a gogo. bad trend. a couple of other bars have reopened under other names, and there's quite a few spaces being remodeled.
my recent regular sweetie came out when called with her finger bandaged. she cut it last night on broken glass (no mention of how the glass got broken) and had to get stitches. she's very sorry for herself, has had enough of pattaya, and is going back to kampaeng phet today. she doesn't know if she'll be back. she is an absolute little doll, delicate features, moody but goodnatured if you give her a chance. i hope i don't see her turn hard.

next up, kiss, next door. much bigger place, not bad, girls a bit sparse but a step up from mash and submarine, more nudity. i was harassed by a beautiful, well-traveled, minx who had already been barfined by a phlegmatic gentleman that she was alternately climbing over and ignoring. for the sake of that guy i hope he has her measure, she's a firecracker full of drama.
drinks and ladydrinks at all these gogos were between 90 and 110 baht.
subsequently things are a bit of a blur. the last thing i remember is getting a sandwich from the yellow 24-hour "american" place on soi 13/1. i remember it partly because the sandwich forcefully reminded me this morning. mild food poisoning combined with a hangover. only writing isg reports can cheer me up.

Since March the weather here has been overcast and cold then as April approach aside from a few days it still is overcast and have been raining a lot off and on. Today got soak twice unexpected due to rain its like Songkran has already started. If this keeps up there might not be a Songkran?

If you arrived Mid December in Phuket, what is the best path back to Pattaya and where should you stop on the way?
Some say Phuket is more expensive than Pattaya. So my little brain says there must be some cheaper less touristy spots to try out on the way back. I only picked Phuket because of a cheapish plane ticket, and besides, gambling on a quick look, and bailing if I don't like it.

I actually like Phuket a lot. The beach is much better than Pattaya. It is less crowded and a little more low key in my opinion. Also, there is plenty of pussy there. Bangla St. And probably more MP's concentrated in a small area than any other place. It may be a little higher priced, but not that much.

[/QUOTE]Unless you particularly enjoy being on the beach, get out of Phuket as quick as possible! Too many regular tourists have transformed Phuket in a pussy market for suckers. It's much cheaper and girls are definitely better than in Phuket. Many more places to go at night too!

Rather than full blown, expensive foreign owned bars, supporting greedy hands, I bet there are a few affordable 'other places' in the towns heading North. Ranong, Chumphon, Myeik, Phetchaburi are big enough and must have some action. Yep, some people are keeping their off the beaten track places secret.

[/QUOTE]That maybe very well the case but from my absolutely incomplete knowledge of Thailand, these "hidded places for locals" mainly focus on price and maybe age of the girls, so unlikely that one will find great performances or looks, those who have them go where the demand and purchasing power is stronger, eg BKK, Pattaya, Phuket or even Chiang Mai.
