Pros give you the illusion that you can score almost effortlessly, whereas amateurs don't. If you come to Brazil for sex and only stay for a short time, then stick with the pros. Brazilian women in general are not easy prey and generally do not fall for the first gringo they see.

While you watch the "freak show", there are probably other pairs of eyes checking you out as a potential robbery target. I have seen cars being broken in rather brazenly right in front of the Copacabana Palace. Several of my friends have been robbed right on Ave. Atlantica, and I have been held up at knife point there as well. I have walked all over Rio (Leblon, Ipanema, Copa, Leme, Centro, Tijuca, even the area around VM) after dark, and the only time I had problems was on the main drag at Copa. Remember, the thieves go to where the easy money is, and the easy money is with careless tourists, and they tend to be at the Copa.

I cannot possibly see any reason whatsoever to try to go younger than the minimum terma age. There is no way that an 18 year old is "fresher" than a 19 year old. (It's not like they are virgins when they show up at Balcony.) And I believe that was also the point that Mr Enternational was making. It's a really bad idea to try to toe the minimum age line. You are aware of the problem with fake IDs, and yet you still do not shy away from trying out the young ones at Balcony. Did the possibility of a police sting operation ever cross your mind? If they would do that, and you would be caught in it, it would send unbelievable ripples through all parts of your life. Now THAT would give your neighbor something different to talk about than what is the best lawn fertilizer. I know that experiencing the Rio p4p scene can be an incredible rush, but [i]some risks are definitely not worth taking[/i].

Who knows for sure. I'd say 18 is probably the minimum age for a terma.

Just as Big Ernie McCraken proclaimed when he won the World Championship of bowling in Reno in the 1996 Documentry "King Pin," and I quote.

You guys are probably right. I have been pushing the envelope a little lately. It is the fucking rush of this hobby you know.

bribing the police is not for someone that does not know how to the process works. if you think you can just drop a couple of bucks and be on your way you are mistaken. you will probably just make the situation worse.

simple things like a traffic violation or maybe being caught with no documents, if you know what you are doing and know how to play the game, you may get away with a simple on the spot bribe. if you are not familiar with the way the game is played insist on being taken to the police station and sorting it out there. your chances will be better with these simple matters.

for serious matters, and being caught with an **** girl is considered very serious in brazil, you are in for a world of pain. don't even think you will get away with a small simple bribe and be on your way. you will most likely be taken straight to the station and then have the shit scared out of you by a number of higher ranking police. some of these guys will have more interest in seeing a foreigner charged than accepting a bribe. once you start going through the system the chance of getting off with a bribe will decrease and if you are finally offered a way out the amount you will be asked to pay will be large. think best case scenario $10k, could be as high as $50k. you will also be spending some time in jail while the process gets dealt with, that alone would not be nice.

corrupt high ranking police are professional criminals, they know how to get the maximum payout, they are not interested in a few hundred $r, these guys earn $100k + per year. they are not going to risk that for a small payout.
