Do you mean Hotel Melawai? If you mean jl Falatehan, then that's new to me.
No, I meant Hotel Melawai, not anything on Jl Falatehan. I wrote the reply at oh-dark-thirty getting to ready to go to the airport, and didn't read or edit well. I wasn't sure I could get back on line today, and wasn't sure how quickly he wanted suggestions. I don't think Jl Falatehan is a Sunday afternoon possibility, but TTG is wrong about lots of things!
Greetings mates,
Does anyone know if there are women available at BATS (or other place nearbys) on Sunday afternoons? I will be staying at a hotel near Plaza Indonesia (likely Shangri-La) and only have Sunday afternoon to hobby (wife comes into town in the evening). I did RTFF, but was unable to find anything about picking up a pro in the afternoon.
Will there be working girls at BATS on Sunday afternoon? Is there anywhere else near Plaza Indonesia? Any good spas in the area (besides Alexis, which seems far)
Appreciate all of the helps on this.
Ciao
Nearest I can think of is Fortune but I've never checked regarding Sundays. Traffic is pretty easy so you could also consider Malioboro or maybe Travel?

So that leaves Maribaya in Hotel Melawai.

MD II
Thanks everyone for the advices! Will report back on my experiences.
Back in the day Sunday afternoons were the best.
Wash the car in the morning, get a shower tell the missus I was going out to meet a few mates for a couple of beers, back home by 7pm for dinner, I mean what nefarious activities could I possibly be up to at that perfectly innocuous time of the week?
I miss Today Country.

Ciao
Malioboro would be the closest place to the Shangri-La for afternoon action, and traffic should not be a problem on Sunday. Fortune is also fairly close but I'd pick Malioboro over Fortune.
Maribaya Spa in Hotel Melawai is also a good choice, although slightly farther away. Again, Sunday afternoon traffic should be lighter than the rest of the week.
You could also consider mall-hunting but that can be hit-or-miss, and since your schedule is tight, I'd recommend going to a regular spa. Another option is to go to BATS on Saturday evenning (if you're in town then) and line up someone to come visit you in your hotel room Sunday afternoon.
Because a lot of people will be at the Shangri-La for Sunday brunch, there's always the possibility of a working girl discretely working the Shangri-La lobby at that time. Wouldn't hurt to take a quick look before you head out.

I might try to do a little mall hunting (which was very successful last year in Plaza Senaya) and or work with a provider to get something to my hotel. Will definitely report out what I discovers.
Gents,
I have a question for you.
I have read a couple of reports on these boards in relation to being refused entry into some clubs in Jakarta. As I am shorts and t-shirt guy, what is the appropriate dress for places like Malio and Classic versus Bats and Blok M? Any assistance would be appreciated.
<Sarcasm Are you Australian? You can get refused entry in some parts of the world on that ground. </Sarcasm But seriously, long trousers and a long sleeved plain colored shirt will do. I doesn't look like there are is a no foreigner policy anywhere. BUT, all clubs anywhere in the world have a "no troublemaker" policy. If you stick out by virtue of ethnicity its a good idea to dress a bit above the local level, be clean shaved and not drunk. I gave similar advice to Asians coming to Europe. There are always people at the entrance (and girls) with prejudices, sometimes bordering racism. Making in a little bit extra effort in dressing, grooming and politeness goes a long way in avoiding those.

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia. It is the business, political, industrial, transport and financial centre of the biggest economy in SE Asia and whilst to its north there is a major seaport Jakarta is most certainly not a beach resort.
It's strange that anyone would need to point these obvious facts out but when I look at some western blokes wandering around the streets of Jakarta on week days I often wonder have they accidentally got off the plane one stop short off Bali.
In London, New York, Sydney, Moscow, Beijing, Bombay, Paris or countless other major international cities if you show up at a five-star nightclub wearing shorts and a t-shirt you will probably be refused admittance, it's not racism, it's a simple fact of life. Why would Jakarta should be any different?
I agree with this.
I did notice a few weeks ago two UK guys carrying their drunk friend and entering X2. Jeans, t-shirt and drunk for them was ok. Can't say I wasn't bothered by "bad stereotype advertizing".
Personally I often prefer to go 2day unshaved as I seem to have more luck with the girls.
On a side note I had some girls who said they actually liked the indonesian awefull looking chinbeard or ugly mustache on some locals. Not to mention the occasional long nails.

So you should have no problems in Classic / Malioboro / BATS / CJs / Tiga Puluh / X2 / Red Square provided you're not a total mess. You may however find it stricter in certain clubs like Dragonfly. Generally your luck will be better if you dress at least half decently.

On lazy weekends, I sometimes wear cargo pants to the shopping malls. If I see a girl I'd like to approach, I always regret not at least wearing jeans. Indonesian girls are ultra-status conscious, even a Blok M ayam doesn't really want to be seen in public with someone who looks like a backpacker tourist. If you're young and in good shape, you can get away with good jeans and t-shirt. No criticism intended of your sartorial sense, it's just the way things go.

By coincidence, I was walking along Jaksa last night with my latest squeeze, a hot shop assistant at Pasaraya. Her choice of words on seeing white guys in shorts: "bule kampung" Which could be freely translated to. Hillbillies?
