Ask the Beach Road lady to leave her ID at the hotel desk
Those low priced Freelancers/SW could end up costing a whole lot more than any overpriced go-go girl. These stories about Falangs being drugged by Freelancers are reported with some frequency but you have to wonder how many more are not reported. Frugal Mongers take note and be aware of who you are picking up, the 300b short time is not always 300b as you can see in this story below, be safe.
Most hotels in Pattaya require that the lady leave her Identification Card at the hotel desk, when she goes inside the room with her man.
A lot of farangs ignore this rule. And the hotel mangement often doesn't enforce it. But if you want to stay safe. Then make sure your lady leaves her ID at the hotel desk.
When other people know who she is. And the police can easily trace her. Then even the criminally inclined ladies probably won't try to take advantage of you.
All adult Thais are supposed to have this ID, which is issued by the Thai government. And virtually all Thais carry this ID with them. Because simply not having this ID can lead to arrest by Thai police.
When you take a lady from a beer-bar. Then perhaps you can ignore this rule about leaving the lady's ID at the hotel desk. Because people at the bar know who she is and how to find her. But when you take a lady from the Walking Street or the Beach Road. Then finding her in case of trouble is a lot harder. And with these ladies you definitely should insist that they leave their ID at the hotel desk.
But besides being drugged at your hotel room. There have been cases of farangs being drugged at large crowded disco places, such as Marine Disco and others. And the best way to avoid trouble there is to avoid drinking anything.
And I say this based on my own experience. A long time ago I was at one of those Disco places with a group of freelancers, whom I've known for a few days. I didn't think twice about accepting a drink from one of them. Because by then I knew them relatively well. And it turned out that they did put something in my drink.
I was fortunate enough not to pass out there. Perhaps they didn't put enough stuff in my drink. And after they got tired of waiting for me to pass out. We all went back to our usual bar. Where a short time later I did pass out. But they didn't take anything from me because of all the witnesses there.
I wasn't completely fortunate though. Because after that incident I felt sick for 2 or 3 days. This knock-out stuff they put in your drink is not good for you. And you can even die from it, if they happen to put too much of it in your drink.
