Why don't you guys just have fun with the girls and not care who they are fucking. Have a open relationship and thats it. When you get tired of the pussy you can leave. I don't see why this is so hard. In the long run we are all dead so who cares. Brutal but true. Anyone disagree?

Nobody is doing mongering in Rio right now?
MC. Same old, fewer hot chicks of late. Have 1 fav there I like, Cintia.
Having another ex-MC girl coming over when her "husband" is away on biz.
That is all.
Why don't you guys just have fun with the girls and not care who they are fucking. Have a open relationship and thats it. When you get tired of the pussy you can leave. I don't see why this is so hard. In the long run we are all dead so who cares. Brutal but true. Anyone disagree?
The only thing equally as ridiculous as criticizing the tutes for being unfaithful is when the tutes get angry or upset when they "catch" one of their clients fucking another girl. Or God forbid, you fuck her friend right there in the terma! Like I say, the tutes are out there fucking every John, Trick, and Hairy, but then mongers somehow owe some loyalty to them?
You're right. This isn't hard. Not at all. As mongers, we get to come and go as we please. But guess what? So do the girls! Everybody needs to recognize this for what it is. This isn't about "commitment" on any level (except for maybe being a repeat customer). It's about open relationships on both sides of the bed where people fuck who they want, when they want.
This is the right kind of attitude for both mongers and tutes to have in order to regularly experience stress-free enjoyment of the "hobby". But then, people seem to have a penchant for unnecessarily complicating their lives.

Rock in Rio
Any thoughts on how Rock in Rio is going to affect business?
Less availability? Higher prices? Full termas?
The dates are sep 23. Oct 1. Probably more tourism than natural for those dates.
I noticed hotels are pretty full and expensive.

The agencies I've been working with to find an affordable apartment tell me that lodging prices are definitely affected. This is my first trip to Rio and I had no idea Rock in Rio was going on the day after I arrive. I'll definitely find out on the 22nd and pass along what I see. I'm used to Thailand prices and am actually considering testing out the hostels near the beach. R25 or so for a dorm spot. Sure I'll get beautiful sleep with 6-12 other smelly backpackers snoring and farting all night! If anyone knows where to find super cheap lodging where I won't get killed, please drop me a line. I'll be in Brazil til' November 30th.
Thanks,

First Time, Long Time
Hey Guys,
Big Fan of the site for a long time now. Had a quick question about 4X4. I thought I read it was raided and closed? What happened, it's open for business again? I'll be in Rio again in late October and it's one of my favorite spots.
Thanks!

It's a few minutes walk from the beach, you have the Metro to take you into the cheapo Centro, plus there's always a good crowd hanging around there enjoying a beer. This is particular true if you are in the slightly younger age group. Haven't stayed there myself but my wingman one year took some guys from there down to Vila Mimosa and he said it looked very well run. You get all the usual stuff of local (non-p4p) info on tap, how to find things and so on, which is a big time-saver for your first trip. There's another hostel another couple of blocks further away from the beach but it is not nearly so nice. Bear in mind it's still Copa though (ie relax and enjoy the bonhomie but be wary of where you get drunk and stay alert when wandering around late on in the evening).
Copa is the fun place to be, but it's also tourist central and things cost. There are cheap places to stay in town (Centro) that will not sell out (like the flea-pit across from the Ibis just off Rua Carioca) but you are a Metro ride away from the party atmosphere of Copa and also the beach.
Barra de Tijuca, where the Rock festival is staged, is a long Way from Copa, Centro or the rest of Rio really. It could be a different city. In rush hour, it can take up to a couple of hours to get into Copa, so not worth staying there unless most of the stuff you want to do is in Barra.

The only hostel I know of near there actually is a relatively new one located on Teneiro Aranha (going away from the beach and Barata Ribeiro). L'uomo is in the shopping center next to the Siqueira Campos metro stop and on Tonelero there are a couple of small apartment / termas. Could you possibly be referring to metro stop Cardeal Arcoverde with Stone of a Beach and Mellow Yellow hostels nearby?

I have taken tourists to both places (not for money, just trying to help out) and both are pretty basic. The staff at both places were nice and spoke English well.
BTW, has anyone been to this new club also located in the same shopping center ast L'uomo? (Yes, I read the internet reviews and am asking about someone actually have been there not just surfing the internet).

I suggest trying Barao do Flamengo, pernoite. It is on the Largo do Machado metro stop. The area is safe. Pernoite is 69R for 8PM to 12 noon next day. Below is a list of Rio Love Motels that I found on one of the Brazilian websites. I think another poster here said the zona sul motels are going upscale, but I think you might be able to find 12 hour deals for under 100R in the centro motels. I posted about this lodging technique earlier on this thread.

It's directly across rua Tonelero from the Metro Figueiredo Magalhães exit. With any hostel in Rio I would suggest you be constantly alert to the possibility of theft. In the past couple of years there have been numerous invasions and armed assaults of tourists at Copacabana and Ipanema hostels. Checking the security of the hostel is recommended. However, in several of these incidents, employees of the hostels have been implicated in cospiracy with the invading robbers.

Apologies
Sorry guys. Typing when very tired. I meant Arcoverde Metro stop. Which is Pretty well on Barata Ribeiro. I think the hostel I was talking about is called Mellow Yellow (just google) , and you can see it from Barata Ribeiro although it's just off the main road in Rua General Barbosa Lima. I haven't stayed there but remembered it as it is so handy for just about everything. (Same for stone of a beach).
One hostel I would definitely recommend, but maybe not to a newbie, is.
Rio Tijuca Hostel
, Rua Araujo Pena. 58. Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
I've stayed there twice for a couple of nights on arrival just to sort out an apartment and once when I was doing some work connected with the Uni Hospital. It's an easier drop from the airport than going through Centro to Copa or Sul, it's walking distance to Mimosa (which is how I know the Alfonso Pena way of getting there) and would be handy for Carnaval (although I've not used it for that). For a hostel, I think you could only describe it as positively luxurious.
I couldn't find the homepage link offhand, but I've added a general link with booking if anyone wants it.
