BREAKING: President Trump said he is placing tariffs, a travel ban and other measures after the government rejected two planes carrying migrants, and the country's president said he would prohibit USA Deportation flights entry.

The Medellin authorities and residents will like this. No more gringos in Medellin. Puta prices will plummet.
Everyone said the same thing during COVID. I never saw prices drop. Read that same BS about other countries for other reasons but never happened. P4 P prices never drop and you say plummet. Plummet? Have you ever been to Colombia? Local guys are majority of all customers.

It's high unlikely that Trump would actually prohibit US citizens from traveling to Colombia.

Hobo3 (aka KZ I believe) you are totally right and everyone would be wise to heed your advice and perspective.

To the nice obviously well-to-do families one sees walking on calle 10, please heed good advice and go to Aruba.

Medellin is no place to bring your children or your pretty wife.

Anyone who has seen the cultured men populating calle 10 these days knows that elegant gringos have turned medellin into mierda (sxxt), just as Hobo alludes to.

Oh well, things go up and things go down. And for now things are going down down down much like the dollar exchange rate these last days.

Quite curious really in light of the fact hot open warfare in now enveloping the country and massive waves of refugees are on the streets and highways everywhere you look.

Anyone else been out and about recently these days?

Looks like syria, Afghanistan, ukraine and gaza all rolled into one.

People everywhere, foreigners and locals alike, are preparing for the worst.

There is palpable tension in the air of Colombia these last days and weeks.

A really sad state of affairs and a lot of human suffering not to mention loss of life happening now throughout all parts of Colombia.

So come on down now fine gentlemen, all this suffering means you will get your rocks off cheap with the few sub par chicas which still remain in Colombia.

And you might even live to tell about it.

Once again, I tell you, you now find the young good looking colombian chicas outside of Colombia.

Look for them in harems in dubai and other similarly wealthy countries.

There is even a mosque here recruiting chicas and flying them out daily.

That is why they got the daily flight from Bogota to dubai now.

And if you don't believe me, ok. Look at the flight schedule for yourself.

As always, be careful and make good decisions.
This is not speculation. This is not what-ifs. I've assimilated into the community, and the recent campaign against gringos for the acts of a very, very tiny few has convinced many Colombians, and I would argue the majority of Paisas in Medellin that most men who come here are complete degenerate and are tuning their city. If you don't believe me, and are committed to self-denial, then just go on Twitter, and search the words, "gringos Colombia". And I guarantee you, within just a few minutes, you will see 100's, if not 1000's of tweets of Colombians calling gringos who visit Colombia the most despicable things you can call any human being. There is your proof, don't take my word for it. I suspect that since the mayor of Medellin has created such a nasty reputation of foreigners coming that the Colombians will retaliate in a pretty serious way soon.
Here is what Petro said:

Trump, I don't like traveling to the USA Much, it's a bit boring, but I confess there are worthy things. I like to go to the Black neighborhoods of Washington. There, I saw a whole fight in the capital of the USA Between Blacks and Latinos, with barricades, which seemed to me like nonsense, because they should unite.

I confess that I like Walt Whitman, Paul Simon, Noam Chomsky, and Miller.

I confess that Sacco and Vanzetti, who have my blood, in the history of the USA, are memorable and I follow them. They were murdered for being labor leaders with the electric chair by the fascists who are inside the USA Just as they are in my country.

I don't like your oil, Trump, you are going to end the human species with greed. Maybe one day, along with a drink of whiskywhich I accept despite my gastritiswe can talk frankly about this, but it's difficult because you consider me an inferior race, and I am not, nor is any Colombian.

So if you are looking for a stubborn person, that's me, period. You can try to stage a coup with your economic power and arrogance, like you did with Allende. But I will die by my law, I withstood torture, and I resist you. I don't want slave owners on Colombia's side, we already had many and we freed ourselves. Who I want to be on Colombia's side are lovers of freedom. If you can't join me, I will go elsewhere. Colombia is the heart of the world, and you didn't understand it. This is the land of the yellow butterflies, the beauty of Remedios, but also of Colonel Aureliano Buenda, one of whom I am, perhaps the last.

You will kill me, but I will survive in my town, which came before yours, in the Americas. We are peoples of the winds, the mountains, the Caribbean Sea, and freedom.

You don't like our freedom, fine. I do not shake hands with white slave owners. I shake the hands of libertarian whites, heirs of Lincoln, and of the Black and white rural boys from the USA, in front of whose graves I cried and prayed on a battlefield, which I reached after walking through the mountains of Tuscany and after saving myself from COVID.

They are the US, and before them, I kneel, before no one else.

Overthrow me president, and the Americas and humanity will respond.

Colombia, now stop looking to the north, look to the world, our blood comes from the blood of the Caliphate of seerdoba, the civilization of that time, from the Roman Latins of the Mediterranean, the civilization of that time, who founded the republic, democracy in Athens; our blood carries the resistant Black people who were turned into slaves by you. In Colombia lies the first free territory of the Americas, before Washington, of all the Americas, I take refuge there in their African songs.

My land is of the goldsmiths that existed in the time of the Egyptian pharaohs, and of the first artists in the world in Chiribiquete.

You will never dominate us. The warrior who rode our lands, shouting freedom, and who is called Bolvar, opposes you.

Our peoples are somewhat fearful, somewhat shy, they are naive and kind, lovers, but they will know how to win back the Panama Canal, which you took from us with violence. Two hundred heroes from all over Latin America lie in Bocas del Toro, now Panama, before Colombia, whom you murdered.

I raise a flag, and as Gaitand said, even if I am alone, it will remain raised with Latin American dignity, which is the dignity of America, which your great-grandfather didn't know, but mine did, Mr. President, immigrant in the US.

Your blockade does not scare me because Colombia, in addition to being the country of beauty, is the heart of the world. I know you love beauty as I do, don't disrespect it, and it will offer you its sweetness.

Colombia FROM NOW ON FACES THE WHOLE WORLD, WITH OPEN ARMS, WE ARE BUILDERS OF FREEDOM, LIFE, AND HUMANITY.

I have been informed that you impose a 50% tariff on the fruit of our human labor to enter the US, I will do the same.

Let our people plant corn, which was discovered in Colombia, and feed the world.
Petro blinked and said he will send his Presidential plane to pick up the Colombians.
This is from Trump on Truth Social:

Petro's denial of these flights has jeopardized the National Security and Public Safety of the United States, so I have directed my Administration to immediately take the following urgent and decisive retaliatory measures:

Emergency 25% tariffs on all goods coming into the United States. In one week, the 25% tariffs will be raised to 50%.

-A Travel Ban and immediate Visa Revocations on the Colombian Government Officials, and all Allies and Supporters.

-Visa Sanctions on all Party Members, Family Members, and Supporters of the Colombian Government.

-Enhanced Customs and Border Protection Inspections of all Colombian Nationals and Cargo on national security grounds.

-IEEPA Treasury, Banking and Financial Sanctions to be fully imposed.

These measures are just the beginning.

End of link.

So yeah, Petro has blinked. There is no doubt about that. There is no indication Trump has backed off though, and I am not sure after the way Petro mouthed off, he is going to.

I know we have Democrats here who hate Trump and no doubt love what Petro said and did. That is fine. You are Americans and entitled to your opinion. You are not president of Colombia and your job is not to put the interests of the Colombian people first like his is. How does Petro saying Trump is a slave owner help Colombia? How does telling Trump he is going to end the human species help Colombia?

So I hope that Trump lets this go. He has a lot on his plate. But OTOH, people have stated they think Trump is bluffing on tariffs, and he might want to make an example of Colombia, and part of Trump must be thinking am I going to let this Petro asshole get away with mouthing off like this?

And like I said, Trump has not rescinded the tariffs. And if Trump keeps them imposed, is Petro gong to retaliate with travel bans? I hope not.

And of all the hills to die on, Petro chose to stand up for a bunch of criminals. You cannot make this shit up.
Petro blinked and said he will send his Presidential plane to pick up the Colombians. He said the reason he refused entry of the planes was because the Colombians on board were mistreated.
This is a case of the easy way versus the hard way. You can not be an uninvited guest in someone's house and complain about how they go about putting you out. I think it was the Brazilian minister saying something about dignity. Where was that speech when they were overstaying visas and paying the Mexican cartel $200/ person to let them pass? Now that your ass is busted, people are supposed to bend over backwards making things comfortable. If you would have left the easy way then maybe you could have expected comfort and dignity.

P.S. How would he have known how the people on board were treated if the plane had not even landed?

And don't be fooled. Plenty of Colombians who can't be described as "wealthy" visit the United States and other countries. Often remaining illegally! In any event, no way can Colombia win a trade war with the States. They need us far more than we need them. I called this one right with a Colombian capitulation.

Almost any bit of news involving Colombia gets hyped into an apocalyptic crisis on this website. The predictability of it is laughable.
Much ado about nothing.

I thought Trump announced the visas of Petro and other Colombian government officials were pulled. That's not quite the same as banning travel across the board.
Much ado about nothing.

The politicians fixed it already.
Yeah, but I am not sure if it would have been if the American media had taken what Petro said and publicized it. In the past, they took every chance they could to demonize Trump, and it was nice to see them act responsibly. So kudos to them.

Trump drew up the paperwork of the sanctions he outlined against Colombia but did not sign them. So in essence, he is keeping a loaded gun at Petro's head. So things will be fine as long as Petro does not say or do anything stupid again and hopefully, he won't. I do not have much faith though that he will stay rational.

Petro tried to follow the Hugo Chavez way of controlling government. Unlike Chavez, his attempts to take over the Colombian Congress and Judiciary failed. In the past, Chavez would give like these three hour long speeches where all he would do is insult GW Bush.

I am a big Trump supporter but I will admit one of his issues is he is thin skinned though he seems to be getting better with that. I think he handled this situation beautifully, and I hope he continues to blow off what Petro says. Obviously, what he says should not be taken seriously.
