Just returned from Dubai and posting my experience and I must say I had a blast. Even though living in Toronto I haven’t had this much of a fun compared to Dubai.
I was in Dubai for a total of 4 nights and I will break it down how it went for those 4 nights. I want to thank bravo11’s post which helped me a lot, it was like a GPS. Also thanks to all those replied to my pm’s and those who didn’t. I can understand why you haven’t replied.
Day 1:
Arrived at the airport Tuesday afternoon, went through immigration and saw the duty free shop @ terminal 3, picked up bottle of vodka and case of beer. And yes I was staying at Metropolitan Dubai on SZR next to the metroplex cinema. I went to the hotels counter and found my hotel, I was given the royal treatment and they came to pick me up in Pajero and the driver handed me khaleej times. Went to the hotel checked in and headed out to grab some Arabic food, I didn’t feel like eating hotel food.
A piece of advise for visitors in Dubai is to know you way to and from the location you will be going to. Google maps is your friend or if you are using Nokia cell phone use the maps on it. I asked the driver to take me to an Arabic restaurant and he took me to a real expensive Lebanese restaurant. It cost me 12 Dhs, but on the way back it costs me 25 dhs because the he took a long spin. Anyways, I was pissed but for me it was only 3 dollars extra. Then I headed to Rattlesnake, entrance fees was 50 Dhs. and you get a ticket for a Heineken only. I went for Redbull+vodka. Now for me it was different, every girl was smiling at me, one even winked. Coming from Canada I was confused but then I was clear that all these girls were WGs. It was filled with CIS girls and some Filipinos. They have a live band going on and they take a half hour break and the hotel manager spins some tracks.
I take my drink and head upstairs where I meet Victoria. She tells me she is from Turkmenistan and I tell her its my first night here and I just want to relax. When giving a large note to a waiter anywhere always say "That's a 500" and get them to confirm before they head off to the till. No way they can argue out of it then.
It's happened to all of us at one time or another. Wish they would make the 500 a different colour - maybe luminous yellow would stop any disputes.
