But based on what I saw on Viking this week it seems that the economical circumstances, curfew and lack of foreigners has forced and will force bikini bars to operate in a way that's similar to sports bars. There was no mention of when the ban would start, or even if it was already in operation, it really was a sloppy piece of news reporting.

Today, on the same news site (link below), it is now reporting that the ban was to start on August 25, but is now under review because it had 'attracted negative sentiments on social media'.

As expected, the proposed ban on entry to shopping malls, department stores, convenience stores and public markets in Lapu-Lapu for the unvaxxed, and which was to start on August 25, has now been scrapped (link below).

If the ban had gone ahead, it is quite likely that Mandaue and Cebu City would have also implemented the ban.

Meanwhile, Cebu City, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu have reverted back to MECQ for 2 weeks (it had been at level MGCQ since September of last year). It started last Sunday and will end on August 15 though of course there is guarantee that it will not be extended again.

There are 4 categories of quarantine in the Philippines, ECQ, MECQ, GCQ and MGCQ with ECQ being the most severe and MGCQ being the least restrictive.

Under this period of MECQ the management at my condo building have been forced to close the swimming pool and to bar visitors and guests from entering the building.

All the malls are still allowed to open, taxis and public transportation are still allowed to operate, the only major changes are that dine-in at restaurants is limited to 10% of normal capacity and the overnight curfew now starts at 10 pm, rather than 11 pm.

There was some initial confusion on Sunday and Monday when a lot of restaurants and coffee shops stopped offering dine-in and only allowed take out, or if they had outdoor seating, then that was allowed. But yesterday and today most restaurants and coffee shops are back to allowing dine-in again, but only at 10% of normal capacity.

The other major restriction is the liquor ban at pubs, bars and restaurants, it was brought in again on July 25. But the sale of liquor at supermarkets and convenience stores is still allowed, but it must be consumed at home.
