Xray / security / blisterpacks
i think if you're honest and not doing anything highly illegal you're fine. i've had cuban cigars many time and got searched and let through from costa rica. on the last trip i only declared a bunch of knock of purses and there were two agents there the guy didn't say a thing but the girl behind him was like well just to let you know that is illegal and technically we could confirep001e them. women. she went on about how children are forced to make knock offs for next to nothing. had i been on my toes i would've asked her how much money would we have to feed the poor if instead of $1000 for a purse they paid $20 and gave the rest to charity.
consider the number of times my checked luggage was x-rayed on my recent trip:
* tsa xray upon arrival at us airport (1).
* airline xray after checking your bag. (1)
* arriving airport xray upon arrival in filipines. (1)
* flew to several provinces. upon getting to each airport, xray. departing each airport, xray (5, possibly 6 times here amongst the airports)
* depart filipines, xrayed again. (1)
* arrive us, xrayed again. (1) also hand-searched because of the apple.
there you have 10-11 xrays thru security. i've watched the screen they view it on. you can clearly see the 8-9 blisterpacks of pills. you can't tell if they have any pills, but you can make out if the pill package has round pills or oval. my suitcase is locked with a tsa lock (they can open it with a key, but they put a large note inside telling you if they open it, and why) , its never been opened as far as i know. previously it was locked with a regular lock, which would have to be cut off, it also was never opened. i find it odd that, having flown so many times, that nobody in security has ever asked me to open it just to look at the pills!
Xray and metal detectors in Manila Airport
Last time I left the Philippines Everything I had went through an X-ray at the door and I walked through a metal (Due to 3. 5 LBS of titanium strapped to my left knee in the form of a leg brace) I got a pat down. Leaving exit immigration my carry on bags went through another x-ray and I went yet another metal detector and again as explained previously I had another pat down. 20 Feet from the gate to my plane my carry on again goes through another x-ray and me through another metal detector and again I get a third pat down. HMMMMMMM can you say that the Philippines takes security seriously. In the US you go through one metal detector and you bags go through one x-ray. Why do people complain about airport security in the USA.
