Nice rooms, good food, cold beer, nice clean pool, friendly staff, good service, the beach is a 5 minute stroll, amazing hot tub, free wi-fi, laid back atmosphere, laid back patrons who are all there for the same reasons, so conversation is easy and Spanish is not mandatory. And let's see what else? OH YEAH! Beautiful women with the wave of a hand. Two shifts of them, day and night. Bikini parties, nightie parties, dance parties. Naughty games in the bar. And all without having to walk through the in town bars, unfamiliar neighborhoods, and renting a room in a hotel in town.
Better girls? Don't know. The girls at BB's were awesome to me.
I have been to FOD and enjoyed both trips there in the last 18 months. It has a little different feel to it than BB's but that is not a bad thing. I like that it is close to the airport. Lots of comparisons have been made about both places. That said I have stayed in Santo Domingo for a week (great time) Santiago 5 visits (great time). But.
I have been to BB's 25+ times over the past 9 years. I have thrown many a Buffet party for all the girls and guests at the hotel. All of the staff have always treated me VERY well. I travel alone and like to stay under the radar. Horn Dog Too said all of the things I would have said. Well done! I have met and stayed in touch with MANY of the like minded people I have met over the years. In fact every time I return to BB's it is like a reunion. The last thing I love about BB's is they (owner and managers) are willing and able to do what ever needs to be done to make sure you have the best time when you are there. Every time I had any issue with food, girls, room my bill you name it they fixed it. One tip is I always tell them right away if there is a problem and also when things are great and why.
There are many choices in the DR and each of us has a favorite. The one commonality that we all share is is our love for the sport. Here's to a great 2014!

Seems like alot of the Blackbeard chicas who were shown the door are ending up at Field of Dreams. I absolutely love Blackbeards, but there are at least five chicas this year that I've returned back for and they're adios. I subscribe to the newsletter for FOD but the content is lacking, and they don't include pics of the ladies, I really want to have a recon mission into FOD, but there are so many other options out there.
Has anyone booked a stay there because the reservation process seems rather complicated.

You can also have an easy and relaxed time in Sosua, depending on what you want to do. You have many chicas to choose from in Sosua.
Now for the safety. If I recall correctly the chicas in Blackbeards come from the same type of background as the Sosua chicas. No difference there. As for not hiding your wallet, one needs to use discretion. Always be careful wherever you go in the Dominican Republic, even in Blackbeards. From what I last recalled most, if not all the rooms in Blackbeards have safes. If Blackbeards is so secure than why the safes? I have seen chicas, with my own eyes, steal in Blackbeards. How about the guy eating and drinking in Blackbeards, and when he finally pays he does not receive the proper change back. I've seen it happen. The chicas pocket the money. Many times the amount is quite small while other times the guy is so drunk he is not even aware of it. Then there are the guys who have a chica for several days and behind his back the chica orders a beer or two for one of the other chicas. Many times the guy does not even notice it (a beer here, a beer there) so he just signs away and by the end of the night he is so wasted he does not even care. I know many are saying out there that anything ordered is suppose to go through the customer first but sometimes it does not happen this way. What I am saying is common in many hotels, and not only Blackbeards but to assume that no theft goes on there is ridiculous. The good thing about Blackbeards is that one can complain to management and if John, the owner, has a good manager the matter will be addressed. John himself will always deal with issues. While many others have fallen by the wayside John, through good management, has lasted. I admire this about him. There is less theft in Blackbeards and the workers are more honest, but Blackbeards itself had to deal with these issues among their staff and chicas. Again, they do have more of a handle on this situation and there might not be a more safe place anywhere around, but always be careful with your belongings.
It is easier to deal with chicas there because they are less problematic (they do not want to lose their job and they can be identified just in case something happens).
As for reasonable price I have found cheaper chicas in Sosua. I guess if you have no negotiation skills than Blackbeards is a bargain, by a long shot.
Anything from beer to bottled water (or anything else that is stored in the refrigerator in the Blackbeards rooms) can be obtained more cheaply outside Blackbeards (heck, just walk around Costambar and you will find it cheaper!). Blackbeards, like many other hotels, will always overcharge for items (it is the convenience of having the item onsite). I recall, many years ago while walking out the Mercure Hotel in Santo Domingo, asking a worker the cost of a bottle of water. She quoted DOP 60. I said 'what! I can get it for DOP 8 right next door. ' That is exactly what I did. A common hotel practice.
The biggest problem with Blackbeards is that it is out in nowhere (if you are not aware of this you have never been to Costambar.) This is why they have bikini parties, night parties, danced parties, tours, etc. One can easily get bored. I would not say it sucks but at the same time I will not pretend to make it something it is not. I would stay there no more than 3 or 4 days tops. I work many hours so I take a break and go there to do nothing, and catch my breath. Once this is done I leave and go the another town.
Since I speak the language and understand the culture I see the usual pettiness of chicas at Blackbeards getting annoyed when customers do not give them business, some making sly remarks, and the like. You would be surprised what these chicas really think about the clients. The usual stuff I hear anywhere else on the island.
I talk to the chicas and gain some insight into their world, and even happenings at Blackbeards.
If you want variety Blackbeards is not the place. If you are an indian who does not like to leave the reservation, does not like to deal with the cavalry or hostile Indians in the real world, does not want to mix with the culture, and want an easy time of it than Blackbeards is for you.
As for beers, wifi, nice rooms, good service, etc. You can get the same things in Sosua. It is not as if Blackbeards has a monopoly on these items. Sosua is not a better place than Blackbeards but if you want some insight on the island Sosua is a better bet, with more on the horizon. If you do not want to be bothered than Blackbeards is the way to go. In the end Blackbeards is a hotel and Sosua is a town, with pros and cons for each.

Now I just show up without a reservation and haven't had a problem getting a room, if they were fully booked I would just go elsewhere but they are never fully booked with maybe the exception of Super Bowl weekend and a few times a year when a certain other forum holds a private party.
That said, when it comes to the girls I would stay at FOD over BB without question, they aren't as business like and if you hang around to see their full lineup they have a better selection without a doubt, I stayed at BB's for the pyrate debacle at halloween and was not impressed by their lineup. The first two girls I went with at BB's wanted to give me a covered BJ, I kicked them both out of the room, then I took a girl for TLN and she was great that night but got up at 5 a. M. Arrived at Jenny's for the counting party in the backroom where $1, 500 USD was converted into a big, fat stack of monopoly money. Arrived barely on time for the contest. Now, I had an agenda. I was fiending for some decent deep throat head on this trip knowing full well that it's hard to find in this part of the world. It's not BB's fault but Dominicanas really can't throat a decent cock on average. YMMV. Tim graciously allowed me to dive right into the party and settle my hotel bill a little later. Locked up my stash in the room safe, threw on a t-shirt and loose fitting ball bag and hit the pool for a few seconds to cool off while Cliff was calling out the 16 contestants. So we pounded something out this time. Learned from Nico, their day bartender, that FOD was having a bikini contest on New Years Day. So we returned for that too. FOD's contest was a farce compared to BB's but we had a good laugh. Fortunately, we all grabbed the best box standing around earlier and pounded them out right after the contest. They pass the hat for donations at FOD and the contest winners are paid a small prize out of that. The designated Judges, so-called, play no discernable role at FOD. Going rate at FOD hovers at 1, 500-1, 600 pesos and a short time room was an additional 840 pesos=$19. 76. This pricing was in effect with Nico, a decent and honest guy. At shift change after the contest they overcharged two other guys that came along with us from BB's a higher rate. This 2 tier pricing goes into affect after Nico leaves apparently. Total bullshit.
This was my 10th trip in about 4 years and we all know our way around. We completely avoided Sosua this time simply because we are getting tired of their crap over there. Thai Guy #1 had about 19 kills and my body count was 11. Thai Guy #3 slayed as well. Thai Guy #2 didn't make this trip having just returned from Thailand a few weeks earlier on a 21 day stay. Hey, some guys got to work designing America's most lethal terrorist killing weapons systems. Just saying. Anyway, BB's food was good and affordable as usual. I didn't care for my room this time around and the water pressure on the top tier sucked ass but you can manage it. The place was 80-100% full during my stay but you wouldn't know it. Their OPTEMPO was relaxed and tranquil. Seemed like many guests just took off on trips, etc. Enjoyed a superb Lesbo 3sum on my last night there BTW.

I have been to BB twice and doubt if I will return. The atmosphere was not appealing. The girls were desperate for customers. Most seemed very bored as certain girls were the A team and got most of the business. After 3 days I saw everything in the house and needed a change. While Sosua can be unpredictable this what makes it fun for me. I also find a greater variety of girls. Not all are hard core. I like the variety of places to eat and pricing. I have had many girls for 1000 k day action. Sometimes you can hook up with a girl and and a wife for few days at a discounted price. Did I mention the beach always a nice stroll. I also use the publico to go to Caberete 50 pesos each way.

Geolopes took great care during our trip documenting everything for his report. FOD was defiantly hit or miss, on Monday there were quite a few attractive Chicas, on Wednesday (the bikini contest) there were not. I would have payed at least 2 of the contestants to put more clothes ON. The bikini contest was seriously lame, the chicas showed little interest in putting on any type of show, and the music was so freaking loud that you couldn't hear yourself think. Also FOD did not contribute to the prize pool at all, it was completely dependent upon the guests to "donate" to the prize pool. As Geolopes 2 of our group of 6 needed up paying 1, 000DOP more for a Short Time room than we were quoted, this of course happened after Nico left, I concur that the random prices are total bullshit, defiantly something the management of FOD should make sure is addressed. I will probably visit FOD again, but I will not be there on a bikini contest.
Say what you want about Blackbeards, I love it! They do a great job trying to make sure their guests enjoy their experience. It should be noted they have done a great job recruiting new Chicas's since my last trip in March 2013. There were a few of my old favorites, but over half of the girls were new to Blackbeards since my last visit. Which I personally appreciate.

The crowd boo'ed when it was announced that Anise was in 3rd place when it was quite obvious that either her or Angela (Who didn't even make the Top 5) should have won. I hope Blackbeards does a better job of screening the judges in the future. Geolopes is being quite nice in his description of the judges. They left shortly after the contest. Never to return. Stiffs.
