Starting to get excited. Will be headed to the LOS in 2-1/2 days from LAX for my first trip to SE Asia to celebrate a divorce a few years back and a 60th BD last month. I will have just over 3 weeks to (probably) share between Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.
My first stop will be in BKK for a few days where I will hook up with a mature woman (39) I met via OK Cupid nearly 2 years ago. She is a real sweet heart, not in the business, college graduate, relatively attractive, and quite sexually deprived. We have grown pretty close during this time.
Next, I will probably head to Phuket. I have dreamed of flying to James Bond Island, and being a pilot, it appears I may be able to rent a plane in Phuket and fulfill a dream. Also, I am not a party animal, so Phuket should help prepare me for the craziness of Pattaya, which I will visit next. (My friend does not know this, and I sort of feel like a fink).
I have met a few other middle aged woman (35) on OK Cupid and there are 2 to 3 more I could see in BKK, though I am not expecting sex from any of them. All of them hate Thai men, and they hate men who want sex it seems! But the shyest of girls, I suppose, can become tigers if they are with a man who is friendly and seems to care. I do care about them and consider them friends, even though I would not mind more. One is especially attractive, but I don't know how things might go. Anyway, after Pattaya and Phuket, I plan to return to Bangkok to see one or two of them and also get in some mongering. If the first girl was especially good, I might see her again. (She claims to be a virgin. And I actually believe her!
I may be spreading things a little thin by visiting 3 places, but I can average one week in each place, which doesn't seem too bad for a first visit. If I return, I can spend more time in the place, or places, I enjoy the most.
I have appreciated all the reports and the help I have received here, so I will return the help by keeping you all informed of my adventures, though I may not be able to say much until I say goodbye to my first friend and head to Phuket (though I might decide to head to Pattaya first. Who knows?

[/QUOTE]I think I'm similar to you. I went to Chiang Mai last Christmas, wanting to determine if it is a place I want to retire to. I lived in Bkk 25 years ago, speak some Thai, and had been to CM several times. I'm working / living in China for many years now, and have been divorced for 8 yrs. I had several "mature" women lined up from Thai Cupid, but in the end decided I could not mentally divide myself so easily. I just went with one, but she was clingy (nice, funny, college degree, good job, 39 yrs old, never married). I really didn't get much of a chance to really see if I could live in CM at this stage in my life (I decided I couldn't), as she wanted to be with me for the 11 days I was there (she had holidays at that time). We did have sex (she initiated) the first night, but I stayed away from it after that. I regret seeing her now, as she has hurt feelings, and I didn't really do what I wanted to do during the time I had. I would have advised you to leave Bkk til the end, and starting with Phuket or Pattaya. Hope you enjoy your trip, and achieve whatever goals you have for it.

It can take two hours if the traffic is bad. And your taxi driver does not know the short cuts. The taxi driver has no incentive to get there quickly as he will either have to dead head back into town or pend hours at yje airport waiting for fare. Use the train if you have to have to leave late.

If worse come to worse, I will just leave real early, like 11 am And kill time at the airport.

Could take up to two hours, or perhaps more. Traffic is tough at that time of day. If my luggage were light I'd take the BTS.

I always take BTS to get to downtown BKK. Totally worth the savings of time and money. I have one large luggage which rolls well.

They will even negotiate for you to take you by meter. Just leave about 3=4 hrs early.

Some have their own bikes so they will follow you. Others will even drive yours for you while you ride on the back.

To VIPHI, my luggage will include fishing gear for my barramundi expeditions I have planned for this trip.
