Anyone know where I can buy an inexpensive or used guitar? . Thanks for any replies.
Non-mongering questions like these are best asked on DR1. I have seen them for sale in compraventas, but as to prices, quality and condition I have no idea. You should ask the price "new" in shops to give you an idea of how much you should pay for a used one.
I've been to the north coast of the DR twice in 2011, yet never ventured to Blackbeards, though thought about it a lot. I'll be staying in Santo Domingo for a week in early March before heading to the north coast. Want to stay just for 2 or 3 days at Blackbeards to see how it goes. I can either go early or late in the week, or at the weekend? When is there the most choice of chicas there (and not overrun with punters too?) I have no idea! On reading you guys talking about Taxi prices to / from there etc, I remember when I arrived at Puerto Plata bus terminal in September 2011, the American guy I was chatting to on the bus, got a cab for $ 20 to Bladckbeards from there, does this still sound like the going fare from there, or am I dreaming?
Usually more guys too. Saturday Bikini Contest could be fun.
From bus terminal I paid 400 or 500 pesos.

It's light but can be hassle at airports. The guitar has been a very effective romance tool for my entire life; money notwithstanding.

Maybe as it's my first time there, might not be the best idea to arrive on a busy Saturday? What time does the Bikini contest get going? Is there decent action there on Sunday too, or is it quiet then? Any quick advice would be appreciated as I need to make a booking pronto.

I had a rental car.
The so called contest starts around 10 am ish and is over in about an hour. Most of the audience are the ones who are staying there. All the girls in skimpy clothes show their wares. Most of the girls are over the hill type and will not make any money in Sosua. I would consider them in 4-6 range. Some are really fat and I guess they have their own clientale. For people who stay in BB a fuck is a fuck and they choose whoever working there. They cannot be bothered with thrill of the chase. To each his own.
Back to the contest. Judges are choosen mainly from frequent visitors there. Girls strut their stuff. A winner is chosen and all girls go ga ga over it.
Remember these girls are regular putas. It is not like you are asking normal girls to do rowdy stuff like what happens in New Orleans or during fiestas in islands.
I was really bored and left after the contest.

I would disagree with the comments that the girls are all fat, unsuitable, etc.
There is a fairly wide variety of talent which changes as girls take their turn as contestants.
If you are unfamiliar with the talent, suggest you do an internet search for BBs website, and request their newsletter.
Each month shows the bikini contestants, other contests, etc.
Draws a lot of non-guests who just want some cheap ogling.
Looks aren't enough and the contests usually turn into a pretty raunchy show, as girls try to outdo each other to get votes.
Just me, but I actually get turned off by all that. I like to see the girls strut their stuff, flirt hard, etc, but it goes too far for my taste.
On the positive side, it draws girls as well, who want to see a show, scream for their friends, etc.
One can get a look at a lot of girls, and get names, numbers, dates for later, but the drawback is all the girls are busy for hours, either participating or watching.
Depending on your preferences, you can arrive in mid-week, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, get to know girls over a few days, etc.
As the weekend guests start arriving, it turns into a zoo. Imagine a weekend-long "Animal House" frat party.
If you're a loud partier, you'll love it.
Sundays are more laid back, as late-night partiers and their dates come down for breakfast and guests start leaving to catch their flights home.
I don't think you'll have a hard time linking up with an appealing chica.
Even on a slow day, check the party photos on the walls, and if one appeals to you, ask the "mama-san" to see about calling them.
(This is best done for next-day dates.)

Wide variety of chicas in the contests and I think the talent has only gotten better. Definitely more girls on night shift than day shift. Best to hang out in the restaurant or bar area around 5PM so you can see all the talent coming and going daily.
Hi guys, thanks a lot for the info and your advice. I actually already subscribe to their newsletter. I don't mind some curvier women, not enough of them around as far as I'm concerned! From what you've told me, I think I'll avoid turning up there on the Saturday. Will be coming there after a week in Santo Domingo, so a crazy noisy atmosphere will probably be the last thing I need! So will either go on Sunday for a few days, or go back later in the week. So last question, is there much of a difference between the talent there early and later in the week? Thanks again!
Saturday is noisy from 4 till 6 pm, but only every other Saturday (bikini is only every other week). Don't stay in D rooms if you don't like noise, it's too close to disco. Otherwise you should be fine.
On Saturday between 5 and 6 pm you will see best choice of chicas. Less choice from Sunday to Wednesday.

Most guests are leaving on a Sunday.
I usually arrived early in the week, as it allowed me almost the whole place to myself and a chance to scope out chicas before the mob showed up on Friday.
Again, if you look at the contest pics on the walls, ask the chica in charge of the girls if she can call a girl in.
Most are available for a client, but allow time. She may have kids to arrange for, etc.
At a minimum, allow a half-day, and more likely for a next day date.
I found BB to be an excellent brothel but brothels are very boring to me. The girls are mostly bored from sitting around all day. It takes real talent to fake interest in the guest. If you speak no Spanish and are satisfied sitting around a pool all day it works great. Often the real hotties are occupied so you wait. Real turn off for me. The positive is room service pussy at an excellent price.
