Would like some advice please, first time to LOS
Hey fellas,
First off, I appreciate all the info that is shared on this forum. It's great. I've booked a vacation for the last 3 weeks in December of this year to Thailand, flying out of BKK to end my trip a few days after the new year. I've RTFF in the Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui threads all the posts dating back a year but I have the following questions:
1) Since it is high season, would it be advised that I book my hotel lodging in advance? I don't want 5 star but don't want to stay in a hostel. I've read that hotels are pretty easy to get and you can usually get a place same day, but since its high season what are the chances I'll be shut out?
2) Most of the reports I've read I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) are from Caucasian mongers. I'm an american born Chinese but I can speak and understand Thai enough to get around. When I go into the high tourist monger areas will I stand out or be ignored? I only ask because I was in Shanghai not too long ago at Manhattan and Judy's bar (pickup bars) and most of the ladies were Vietnamese and most of the mongers were white. I was passed up by many of the girls and many of them didn't even make eye contact with me because I was Asian. I asked one of the ladies that I did pick up and she told me what I had suspected, that since I was Asian she didn't think I was a monger at that bar.
3) I'm probably going to spend a week each in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket and if any members want to meet up that would be great. I plan on trying many non-mongering activities and sometimes some company for those are fun such as diving and so forth.
4) How busy is high season and do the rates for girls go up? Even for the freelancers, gogos and massage girls?
Thanks in advance and I look forward to reporting my experience.
Moss.
Stay safe.
Best place to go in Thailand?
Hi all,
First off I want to thank everyone for their posts that I have helped me in my trips. I don't post a lot here but have in the past, and while I haven't posted my report, it's mainly cause time passed to the extent that I wasn't sure if it would be helpful or up to date. But, that said, for those going to Eastern Europe, a few words of advice. If you haven't found what you're looking for, you're not looking hard enough. Keep your wits about you and you'll be safe and just be smart enough to avoid trouble. Lastly, when it comes to Eastern Europe, you're most likely getting a better deal than you can in the states, and if you aren't, you're thinking with the wrong head.
Now on to my question.
I've read the Thailand threads and have done a search but my specific questions don't seem to be answered. So here goes. I'm a scuba diver and a fan of the laid back, easy going attitude where things shouldn't have to be rushed in hour increments. I much prefer the LT rendezvous. Where in Thailand can one spend some time by the shore and scuba dive while enjoying some fun time in the evening or off days? I've checked out the kao tai thread and it wasn't very helpful in satisfying my curiosity on the evening end. Please keep in mind that I'm targeting good diving, not just some dunk in the water to say I did it.
I've heard that Thailand is the sort of place where one can find a partner to hangout and spend the day / evening or evening / day with for a relatively inexpensive sum? Is this true and is it possible to find in the beach areas?
Lastly, when doing these excursions (remember, I'm interested in beach / scuba diving / fun times) is an air bnb accommodation better or should one just pick a resort and either hope guests are allowed or sneak one in with a tip to the security guard?
Thank for all the help.
