Yes, that's all fine and good, but the way it works in these buildings (at least the Palmetto ones) they intentionally make it difficult to screw with you. First, if she's Venezuelan she better have a recent stamp on her passport, or no registration for her. Secondly, you can register visitors yourself but if its an overnight visitor the renter (or apartment sales agent) needs to be physically there with you when you register her. That's a hassle in Cartagena where everyone is late and never shows up on time. The receptionists have been trained in the Palmetto buildings to do everything possible to discourage extranjeros from bringing women into the building.
Back when I was in Cartagena in January the sales guy who rented me the apartment even admitted there was new management who was making it difficult to bring guests back.
The upside is the Palmetto Beach and Palmetto Eliptic are both well maintained. No roaches or anything nasty. I'd love to find nice buildings by the beach without the shitty anti-sex tourist protocols in place.
Sounds like you choose to go back to a building with such policies. Others choose to rent an apartment in a building and from an owner / manager where the mere registration of one's guest is not a "hassle" or a "problem". It's one's choice. 11 years ago I made a choice to listen to other members here on where and who to rent an apartment from while in Cartagena. Other than when the administrator changed things up at the Mirador del Laguito, things have been pretty much hassle-free when it comes to bringing a guest (s) at any hour. What did I do when they adopted more restrictive policies at the Mirador? I stopped renting an apartment in that building and stayed in other nearby buildings. Seems fairly straight forward.
I wouldn't find it a hassle should the portero not let a Venezuelan chica in because she entered the country illegally. I'd say thanks amigo-good to know. Then if I wanted to bang her, we'd walk back out to the street, hail a taxi, and head to Las Dunas. Having to go that route ends-up costing what amounts to around $25 more (motel, r/t taxi) to bang the undocumented Venezuelan-still no biggie. Having those undocumented girls flood the market increased supply, which lowered prices, and it all washes out in the end, LOL.
Based on what you report, to minimize any cramping of one's style, one wouldn't stay at Palmetto Beach and / or Palmetto Eliptic unless one was wifed-up for the trip, or unless one accepted such policies as "no biggie". One may also want to add "are you in the country legally with stamped documentation" to the "do you have an ID question" before telling the taxi which direction to go when with a Venezuelan chica.
Sounds like you choose to go back to a building with such policies.
Yes. You are right. I was told that the building would not give me issues but that was the salesperson misrepresenting things.
You are well versed in Cartagena. Is Juan pretty much it for girlfriendly apartments? His places are usually booked. A chica I know told me she will find a nice hotel for me in centro but I prefer Bocagrande for the peace and quiet at night.

May 19-21
Hey guys,
Little late report.
Was in Cartagena May 19-21. Late morning flight from Fll on jet blue. Painless. Landed. Cleared fast. Went to penthouse was renting from Juan. Was by myself but wanted a party. Get to building. Setup. Go in. Place is huge. Can't connect Wifi. I got downstairs and talk to front desk and he tells me where to find Juans guy, so I go and he connects Wifi, woohooo and we settle.
I head to my favorite restaurant at the corner where Hollywood turns to laguito, the one on the left at the very end with two stories. I was going there for the whole fried fish with is my favorite, and their octopus dish. I sit down have a beer and immediately I see three super hot chicks walking by. I they look, I wave, they wave, I wave them over. They sit down and have beer. All have great bodies but one has a pig face. We talk and they are Venezuelan, we have more drinks, take pics, tease, time flies and I need to leave and we exchange numbers. I didn't eat So a girl I met last time is set to come over, freaking 2 hours late. We play, have dinner, she leaves. Happened way fast but was 200 k. Whatever. She's cute.
So I go back to the apartment and I see my 2 Venezuelans. I text them to leave the other, we would go to centero, drink, party, then play. So anyway, only one can go up! I'm told one guest staying there can bring one girl! I said this is 3 bedroom apartment! I am a lone. I text Juans guy and he tells me this is the rule. I was not happy about this. I mean I never figured to ask. Never had this issue. So they leave. I help them some. So I go up and chill and text a girl from tinder that is local. She comes over an brings some California herbs for me. Wow it sucked. Ahaha. So we just stay in and play alll night, 300 k. Next morning play, breakfast, adios.
The day I walked all of old city. Went to la cevicheria, and several other famous restaurants all day and stuffed my face. It was amazing and I spent like 100 $.
That evening I went to arepa pues. My god the arepa with chicharron is amazing. This is my first time there and I will make it my first stop next time. I can confirm new hours. It opens I think 4 pm and closes 4 or 5 am.
So walking back I run into Venezuelans walking. All dressed. I said I need to shower. I text them on WhatsApp later but never connected.
I go to a Peruvian restaurant in centro that's well known, have their octopus dish and a fillet on mushroom risotto. Amazing food.
I head back, to the apartment. Walking up I see a cute girl and talk, take her up for a quickie 150 k.
Next morning I wake up, walk around early, nothing happening. Stop for some breakfast. Head to centro to walk around and shop, buy some nice art pieces. For the first time I ran into a police officer harassing a homeless disabled man. It was disturbing, I kept my head down and walked away.
Flew home, sat on runway for 30 minutes at Fll because everything was full for international. Got off, global entry, passed everyone.
I enjoyed it. I didn't get out too much for girls but this trip was about doing what I want. Unfortunately due to normal life I have a schedule that wakes up early and bed early, so I'm not a late night person. I do feel the girl scene has changed a lot. Prices low. It was very humid and hot and extremely windy, but no rain. I changed clothes like 3-4 times a day.
Penthouse was pointless for me and now I know to ask about how many girls for myself. Food scene is getting great. There is a ton of building going on. Also! I know they don't make much, but no one even has change for 20,000. It was getting really annoying. Several times I paid a taxi way too much. I mean, whatever. 8 $. But still! Come on, 20,000 is too much to change. If I go back I need to exchange for lots of small bills!
Sorry for the shitty typing. All on iPad.

Speaking first hand, I've rented apartments from other owners / managers in the same buildings in Laguito where Juan has apartments and not had a problem. Also know 2nd hand of others who have rented elsewhere, including in Castillo Grande and the old city, and not had a problem. Personally, I rent from Juan, unless I'm wifed-up. If I'm wifed-up, then the more restrictive buildings and hotels are fine and if I want a little variety, I take the stray cat to a "love motel". Oh, I've also rented from Mery, but it's been several years and most of her apartments were in Mirador del Laguito and I quit staying there after they put in a bunch of restrictions.
Good, informative report! Yeah, one of those first steps right up there with unpacking and getting WiFi working is getting some small bills, LOL!! In Laguito, I hit up the tienda just down from the florist for a few items and get the change for a $50 mil bill. Also typically hit the little pharmacy in the other direction toward the Hilton and the little tienda next to it on the corner with the tables outside. All three of those places have never had a problem with my paying with 50's or 20's even though I'm only buying a small item or two.
While I typically don't use Uber in Cartagena (I do elsewhere in Colombia), doing so does eliminate the need for small bills for paying taxis.
Had that same 30 minute wait on plane at FLL a week after you. Only thing that bothered me was the other passengers; some folks just lack consideration and think only of themselves, as if their time is more important than the next guy's. Sit your ass back down like they announced, quit complaining and wait it out like the rest of us. It is no wonder there are so many problems on flights these days. I digress.
Thanks for confirming that Mirador del Laguito still has the one chica per guy rule in effect. Figured they did, but it's always good for readers to get periodic updates to learn if anything has changed.

Next trip
I will be in Cartagena in a couple of weeks.
I will stay in one of Juan's apartments. I wonder if any of you have been before in "Playa" building? Any comments?
Also, I wonder if in Cartagena anyone can buy the "blue pills" over the counter. I am not sure to use them, by I just want to know.
I haven't read recent posts about LDV. Why? I had good memories of that place.

1) The Playa Mar Building. Have stayed there many times. Chica friendly. Good, friendly porteros who are helpful and keep a good eye out.
2) Blue pills. Yes, available at any pharmacy. There is a pharmacy a couple of buildings to your right after you exit Playa Mar toward the Hotel Hilton. Vit "C" as well. There are various generic versions available and no prescription needed. They are right there in the glass case.
3) LDV. Closed. The same bar and wait staff work at a location in the old city not far from the Clock Tower toward the Isis strip club.

There is a number of generic brands available. I recommend to avoid the original brand (too expensive, when the same molecule is produced widely and easily) and to focus on first-rank Colombian pharma industry brands.
I am used to buy a stock for one year of my needs, as I never know when I will be back to Colombia. That's why a price difference on the order of 20%-50% is very important for me. I ask to several pharmacies if they have my preferred brand and what is the cost.

Gentlemen,
Here is my brief trip report on Cartagena. First thanks to all the contributors on this forum without whom we would not have access to the wealth of tribal knowledge that resides on this forum.
To get couple of things out of the way- I am by no means an expert in South American scene as many contributors on this forum. My few trips to Central and South America were / are more of a side trips while I travel from Europe to North America on business assignments. That means I can only take short trips of 3-4 nights or so. My Spanish is limited which also limits my real time options- hence I rely on making pre-departure contacts to maximize my time. On that note, I relied on my whatsapp contacts that I developed scouring online ads on local Cartagena classifieds etc. I am also only a night time pussy-chaser-daytime, I usually spend doing the touristy things and taking care of my small business related to G rated tourism.
Arrival & Hotel:
As my main purpose was tourism and only had 3 days in CTG, I opted to stay within the old city. I knew that bringing in a chica could be a challenge (more on that later), I still decided to stay in walled city in a small hotel very close to the clock tower.
Arrived mid day on a beautiful hot simmering day- not a drop of rain, beat the lazily walking selfie taking passengers and was first in immigration line and was out the airport in less than 5 minutes. Ignored the taxi touts as I had to first find an ATM to get local currency. Thanks to previous posts from which I knew the location of ATMs in the Departure terminal. There are three or four ATMs of different local banks located in the departure terminal (I think just before the security screening area on the left side if you are facing the security zone). Got some cash out for the day and headed to taxi stand.
Fortunately my taxi driver had honesty written all over his face and eyes and was an older gentleman who spoke some English. He is originally from Bogota but moved to CTG for work -had forgotten to ask him about the fare as he had right away jumped into conversation. If I recall it was 15 Mil Pesos (4.5 E, $5). He asked if he can give me a ride back to airport when I leave and I agreed. Quite a gentleman, I have his Whatsapp if anyone wants it.
Arrived at hotel, got a good look at the staff and asked how long till they change shift etc etc. Took a shower and strolled out looking for food -barely walked a block and was drenching in sweat. You need at least 3 change of clothes per day in CTG if you don't want to stink to yourself (I think). Ate at a local restaurants where I didn't see a single gringo inside. Pointed and ordered the food looking at the pics on the menu. Solid lunch with two beers cost me less than $8. Not bad at all, ate there two more times during my stay and got a hug from the owner lady as well. Priceless.
Touristy stuff:
Had a pre arranged private tour for 4 PM. The tour guide was already waiting at hotel for me when I returned from lunch. In a past trip to Croatia I had lured my tour guide to meet me for dinner and yada yada but unfortunately this tour guide had excellent English skills but not easy on the eyes. Shall we say, the tour was strictly academic and worth the price of admission. Although it wasn't part of the itinerary, she also gave me a tour of Getsemani.
Just when the tour ended, I started planning for the evening and contacted the girl I had been in touch with pre-departure. Total sweetheart, 20 something, didn't speak much English but worked hard on making contact with me which compelled me to pursue her. I found her via this websie https://co.mileroticos.com/escorts/bolivar/en-cartagena/. We agreed on meeting at 9 PM at my hotel. I told her if there are any issues with the front desk, we can go to the short time hotel La Jaiba I believe (also mentioned on this forum).
She was little late as I had expected -I had thought she would call me when she was nearby or in lobby but she rang my room doorbell which was surprising and great. I asked her about front desk and she just shook her head. We had built up some chemistry due to whatsapping. She was immediately DFKing and reaching for the little brother. She had hot tight body just as I like it (pic attached). No holes were off limit -let's just say that. We had a great time. She was supposed to stay for an hour but at this time it was already 11 PM. I payed her agreed upon donation and if I am not mistaken, it was around $50. I asked her if she wanted to have dinner, she agreed.
We had dinner around the corner at the place of her choice. I had an awesome steak and she had some seafood. Total sweetheart and a keeper. The following morning I had an early departure for touristy stuff so didn't ask her to stay the night but promised to stay in contact.
All in all a great first half day in CTG.
Next day all day on the boat doing the touristy stuff which was great. Again clear blue skies and no rain in sight. Got back to old city weather and sun beaten around 5 PM. For this night had another girl lined up which I found on CTG BP (pic attached that she sent me). On BP she has a fake pic as she wants to maintain her privacy. She like the first girl lives with her family (at least that's what they told me). We decided to meet at 9 PM. I offered her to meet for dinner but she declined. Unfortunately this time around, the guy at the front desk wanted to assert his power and gave me some speech about room being booked for one person only -which by the way was not true and my booking.com email confirmation showed I booked it for two people. Long story short, my girl lead the discussion with him in rapid Spanish. I signed some paper for $15-20 guest fee, he took her Cedula and off we went to the room. The girl has a smoking body and is a local student. Not as passionate as the first girl and no back door business with her. I felt she was in a rush but I still got a complete hour with her with a satisfying O for me. Night two in the books.
My last day in CTG, did some souvenir shopping and some more touristy stuff, trip to Laguito etc. For my last night I wanted to sample the local pick up bars, LDV etc. Started the evening at Donde Fidel and had drinks at bars along the clock tower plaza. It was around 11 PM and much to my dismay, most of the bars were empty. Stumbled upon LDV (new location in Centro) which is right next door to another well known club (Escape? Anyhow I can't recall as there was tussle between the door men of the two clubs vying for my business. The bouncer at LDV spoke good English and had me convinced to go to his establishment. Again much to my dismay, it was past mid night and the club was far from hopping. I saw may be 10-15 girls and hardly 4 guys. Many bored looking chicas on their phones but three or four girls approached me. The bouncer came in asking for tip! I said later when I leave. Had few overpriced drinks at LDV and chatted up a GND looking chica (pic attached) who was nice and didn't come across as a shark. We had some good laughs and left the club together around 1 AM. I can't recall but there is a bar fine or minimum number of drinks that LDV charges for take out. Walked to my hotel and I was dreading if same dude from last night would be there but this time it was a different dude with ear to ear smiles when we walked in (you have to ring door bell to enter after hours). He simply took her ID and off we went. The girl was total sweetheart, no rush, no talk of $, took a shower and was DFK ing while throwing the towel away. There was no foreplay, just old fashioned hard fucking till she came just when I was about to blow my horn. We laid there catching our breaths and I asked her if she would like to stay the night, she agreed. We dozed off and at around 6 AM I was all over her groping her like only Arnold would. Long story short, she didn't want to come down with me for breakfast around 9:30 AM. She wanted to take shower and leave separately -ah the walk of shame gets all of us one time or another. We said good byes, I paid her in USD 150. She didn't count or looked at it.
I was off to airport short time after breakfast. My trusted driver was at the door in lobby good 15 minutes before our agreed upon time. God bless him but there is no God- nevertheless bless him anyways!
Generally, taxis in Cartagena are pretty honest because they're busy enough that there isn't much pressure to over charge. It can range from 15 k to 30 k depending on the distance from the airport.
More than I saw at LDV last time. Isis is just up the street from it. They're both similar but Isis tries to be a 'stripclub. ' If you decide to go back check out the clocktower plaza between 11 pm and 1 am. The hookers will come out in force when the touristy restaurants all close. Then they'll slowly end up at various nightclubs (including LDV) or just go home.
