The reason I ask is I never leave a chica alone in the room for theft and damage to the room reasons. Also, I read in the Guatemala thread that a chica asked a guy to escort her out & to the corner to hail a cab & when he returned, he discovered a missing cell phone and iPad. She wanted ample time to get away so that's why she had him walk down with her so it would take 5 min or so for him to get back up. How you don't catch that as you are leaving the room I don't know? So, some are so good they can snatch your stuff while you are still in the room!

As a precaution, I try to always secure things before leaving the apartment to go out chica hunting. I know I'm most likely going to be distracted by the chica and the liquor I drank while out, so it makes sense for me to spend 10 minutes putting things away before I go out. I have had a chica snatch a bottle of lubrication and pack of condoms before she left without my knowing, LOL. Some will look in the fridge and just take without asking. I can't imagine going into the home of a person I just met and opening up their refrigerator without asking, LOL. One of the reasons I'm not a fan of bringing a girl from Space back to the apartment, as the proportion of snatcher types (typically goes hand-n-hand with chronic drug users) that hang at that place has run higher in my experience. Those are the types that keep a feller coming back for more!

Oh the bar next door that you referred to is called "Space". It's fitting, as many of the chicas there at 4 a.m. are spaced out drug users. Unless things have changed (I haven't been to Space in awhile), there typically aren't more than a couple of chicas there at the time you mentioned (past midnight). If I were to go to Space looking for a higher number of chicas, I'd go around 3:30 a.m. View it as an "after-hours" type place. Again, unless things have changed in the last 6 months or so.

I also realized how the night scene is different in Cartagena compared to other cities and night time activities. Even in Hong Kong -equally hot and muggy but the bars and clubs start humming around 10 PM, peaking at 11-1 AM. In CTG I noticed that bars were empty and no it wasn't even Monday or Tues. It was Thursday if I am not mistaken and I was the only one at the bar having a drink at Tu Candela with 2-4 boring looking people trying to dance.

I also realized that at this point in my life I prefer a decent night of sleep, at least 6-7 hours and get up early by 7 AM. I don't take naps -so the idea of being out at 2 AM hunting cuties at Clock Tower was out of question for me. I am sure I didn't get to sample all that Cartagena had to offer in terms of chicas but I left happy with my choices. Even minus the chica scene, a great historic place to see and experience.

Yes I miss a lot of night action, but I always seem to line up some morning action after a day or two wherever I go! Early to bed early to rise my friends!

To get couple of things out of the way- I am by no means an expert in South American scene as many contributors on this forum. My few trips to Central and South America were / are more of a side trips while I travel from Europe to North America on business assignments. Arrival & Hotel:

As my main purpose was tourism and only had 3 days in CTG, I opted to stay within the old city. I knew that bringing in a chica could be a challenge (more on that later), I still decided to stay in walled city in a small hotel very close to the clock tower.

Arrived mid day on a beautiful hot simmering day- not a drop of rain, beat the lazily walking selfie taking passengers and was first in immigration line and was out the airport in less than 5 minutes. Ignored the taxi touts as I had to first find an ATM to get local currency. Thanks to previous posts from which I knew the location of ATMs in the Departure terminal. There are three or four ATMs of different local banks located in the departure terminal (I think just before the security screening area on the left side if you are facing the security zone). Got some cash out for the day and headed to taxi stand.

Fortunately my taxi driver had honesty written all over his face and eyes and was an older gentleman who spoke some English. He is originally from Bogota but moved to CTG for work -had forgotten to ask him about the fare as he had right away jumped into conversation. If I recall it was 15 Mil Pesos (4.5 E, $5). He asked if he can give me a ride back to airport when I leave and I agreed. Quite a gentleman, I have his Whatsapp if anyone wants it.

Arrived at hotel, got a good look at the staff and asked how long till they change shift etc etc. Took a shower and strolled out looking for food -barely walked a block and was drenching in sweat. You need at least 3 change of clothes per day in CTG if you don't want to stink to yourself (I think). Ate at a local restaurants where I didn't see a single gringo inside. Pointed and ordered the food looking at the pics on the menu. Solid lunch with two beers cost me less than $8. Not bad at all, ate there two more times during my stay and got a hug from the owner lady as well. Priceless.

Touristy stuff:

Had a pre arranged private tour for 4 PM. The tour guide was already waiting at hotel for me when I returned from lunch. In a past trip to Croatia I had lured my tour guide to meet me for dinner and yada yada but unfortunately this tour guide had excellent English skills but not easy on the eyes. Shall we say, the tour was strictly academic and worth the price of admission. Although it wasn't part of the itinerary, she also gave me a tour of Getsemani.

Just when the tour ended, I started planning for the evening and contacted the girl I had been in touch with pre-departure. Total sweetheart, 20 something, didn't speak much English but worked hard on making contact with me which compelled me to pursue her. All in all a great first half day in CTG.

Next day all day on the boat doing the touristy stuff which was great. Again clear blue skies and no rain in sight. Got back to old city weather and sun beaten around 5 PM. For this night had another girl lined up which I found on CTG BP (pic attached that she sent me). On BP she has a fake pic as she wants to maintain her privacy. She like the first girl lives with her family (at least that's what they told me). We decided to meet at 9 PM. I offered her to meet for dinner but she declined. Unfortunately this time around, the guy at the front desk wanted to assert his power and gave me some speech about room being booked for one person only -which by the way was not true and my [URL]booking.com[/URL] email confirmation showed I booked it for two people. Long story short, my girl lead the discussion with him in rapid Spanish. I signed some paper for $15-20 guest fee, he took her Cedula and off we went to the room. My last day in CTG, did some souvenir shopping and some more touristy stuff, trip to Laguito etc. For my last night I wanted to sample the local pick up bars, LDV etc. Started the evening at Donde Fidel and had drinks at bars along the clock tower plaza. It was around 11 PM and much to my dismay, most of the bars were empty. Stumbled upon LDV (new location in Centro) which is right next door to another well known club (Escape? Anyhow I can't recall as there was tussle between the door men of the two clubs vying for my business. The bouncer at LDV spoke good English and had me convinced to go to his establishment. Again much to my dismay, it was past mid night and the club was far from hopping. I saw may be 10-15 girls and hardly 4 guys. Many bored looking chicas on their phones but three or four girls approached me. The bouncer came in asking for tip! I said later when I leave. Had few overpriced drinks at LDV and chatted up a GND looking chica (pic attached) who was nice and didn't come across as a shark. We had some good laughs and left the club together around 1 AM. I can't recall but there is a bar fine or minimum number of drinks that LDV charges for take out. Walked to my hotel and I was dreading if same dude from last night would be there but this time it was a different dude with ear to ear smiles when we walked in (you have to ring door bell to enter after hours). He simply took her ID and off we went. The girl was total sweetheart, no rush, no talk of $, took a shower and was DFK ing while throwing the towel away. Thanks for the positive feedback on my CTG trip report -found a couple pics in my delete folder. Here goes before I clean my phone up. Not showing her face based on her request.

My stay in Dann Carlton hotel was good but it was time to move to Cartagena. Our new friend Steven the Uber driver took us to the airport. During our ride Steven technically gave us a guided tour, he knows everything about the city and was very proud about it. He charged us nothing although we insisted, we gave him 30 k for gas. Traveling inside country is easier than doing an international flight, you can be just one hour before the flight without problems. You don't have to take out your shoes and all of that post 911 shit. Traveling from Medellin to Cartagena was a 50 minute ride, it costs $109 round trip in Avianca. It cost less if you use discount carriers. I spent almost all flight playing Pac Man from Avianca's entertainment package. Most people traveling are locals so they do not go with much bags, it was easy to store my luggage inside the plane.

Cartagena airport is next to the sea so I got the impression we were going to "land" overseas. Getting out the airport is fast. We go outside and temperature was 30 grades Fahrenheit higher than in Medellin. We asked for a cab, I told I was going to Bocagrande-Laguito area, he came with a ticket from a machine, 18,500 pesos was the cost. We arrived to Dann Cartagena in about 20 minutes, it was a nice seaside ride. During our ride we felt the beach vibe, guys wearing shorts, ladies in bikini, lots of restaurants, hotels and stores. Tour guides and buses everywhere. From the outside Dann hotel looks like an apartment building. We got a welcome drink and headed to room 1307. The room was clean, modern, comfortable and most important: with ice cold air conditioning. Dann hotel has an Exito supermarket across the street with a Bancolombia ATM inside, very convenient. We decided to walk along the public beach, hotel has a door from pool area to the beach. People from Cartagena are darker skinned than Medellin paisas. Costeas ladies are more curvy too. Lots of people selling things and ugly ladies offering massages populate the beach, we just ignored them or a "no gracias" worked ok. We saw a couple of working ladies. We walked along main Avenue or Carrera 2 where most of hotels and business are. Back to the hotel we sipped a couple of refreshing mojitos from Viejo Migue beach bar outside the hotel, great mojitos BTW.

Around 9:00 pm we took a cab to the old city. The cost was 7,000 pesos although most transfers from. To old city cost 8,000 pesos. One driver gave us his number to take us later to Casa Rocio, Cartagena oldest brothel outside the tourist area.

We entered the old city by the clock tower entrance. We walked half the city until we hit a artisan beer place where I had a refreshing german beer. We walked back to the clock tower area and stopped inside Donde Fidel bar where puerto rican classic salsa is played all the time. Beer there was cold but gets hot faster than in Medellin. Once outside we walked around the plaza to notice it is now populated by a lot of mostly pretty ladies. A few guys offered to guide us to LDV and Isis which are nearby places where 40,60, 100 or 200 ladies work, depending of the promoter's assertion.

I interviewed a lot of ladies by the clock tower plazaduring the night. Most of them are from outside Cartagena Looking for tourist cash. Barranquilla, Pereira, Cali, Bogot, Venezuela among other places were mentioned as their place of origin. Their age was from 18 to mid 30's although some girls look younger than 18. Although all girls are there to earn money for their expenses some of them apparently enjoy their job. I saw a few travesties by clock tower entrance.

By 1:00 am I saw a petite girl wearing shorts that I liked a lot. Girls in Colombia are not as aggressive as Dominican girls, you almost always have to do the initial approach. I asked this girl how much, she told me 60,000 pesos. All other girls quoted me from 100,000 to 250,000 pesos. We headed to a nearby hotel where I was charged 30,000 pesos for short term. She was petite, young, curly black hair, marihuana hazel eyes. Inside that room she provided me the best sex I have had in years. We did everything including anal. It was not GFE until she get comfortable with me. She gave me a massage and asked for a full body to her including masturbation and oral. It was nice. I gave her a tip and we went outside.

She wanted me to take her pictures with my iphone by the clock tower area and that is when things got weird. We went there and I took her a couple dozen pictures. I gave the lady 20,000 pesos for a cab ride and rapidly entered to a cab back to the hotel. You can kill my parents, rap e my sister, steal my car but there are two things you can never do: eat my food or take my phone away from me.

While I was going back home the cab driver asked what happened, I told him and he was sorry for that. Half our ride we got stopped by the police. I just imagined me inside a colombian jail without my iphone. Lucky me it was a regular preventive road block. I got to my hotel minutes later. My cousin was there sleeping and roaring like a hungry lion. He got awake and told me it was good with the lady he chose. She was a busty fake one in her 30's that charged him 200,000 pesos. I told him that that girl was going out the motel I used with a guy and that when I went out of my room she also went out of another room with a third guy. He rejected a lady he was talking once that lady entered by the clock tower. The lady he was with send him a picture, she was in the picture on a boat with the other lady, the one he rejected. These girls know each other. That day ended by 5:00 am I am going to split my Cartagena report because it is too long.

While I was deleting the pictures taken to the petite girl I noticed her purse was there until the end, it was taken away by the garbage man. I remember she asked that guy, he told her he saw nothing. If I stayed there it was going to be trouble for me since my phone really had evidence of the "steal".

This is my report:

Day one. I arrived to Cartagena late night (around 10 pm). Once in Juan's apartment I bought some groceries in a supermarket. About 11 pm I went to downtown.
